On Saturday, January 4th, I headed to Davison High School for the first-ever 3-Phase Scrimmage presented by Highest Platform and [program_tooltip program_id='923712' first='Prepare' last='2 Win Basketball']. The inspiration and motivation for this collaboration was to provide a unique teaching and learning environment for coaches and players to prepare for their next game after the holiday break.

Plymouth, Southgate Anderson, Okemos, and Davison competed in a teach, play, and finish segment throughout the day. The segments provided teams with opportunities to test/challenge their zone offenses, zone defenses, man offenses, man defenses, and late-game scenario execution against comparable opponents.

3-Phase Scrimmage was a smashing success and accomplished exactly what Highest Platform and [program_tooltip program_id='923712' first='Prepare' last='2 Win Basketball'] hoped it would. The programs that took advantage of this unique opportunity received comprehensive PGH media coverage and an intentional structure that prepared them for success on the court. Several impact players were promoted from each team during the event, but I have included two from each team who were the biggest difference makers.

Gracie was extremely impactful for the Cardinals on the court at 3-Phase. Her aggressive effort on defense created steals and she chased down a breakaway layup for a block. Gracie used a shot-fake on the perimeter to freeze her defender and blew by for a layup. She split defenders to score off the dribble and dished passes to teammates for assists. Gracie put her best skills on full display on Saturday.

Sam has been one of Davison's biggest difference-makers this season and she continued that trend at 3-Phase. Sam converted a couple of smooth reverse layups, knocked down a confident straightaway 3 off the catch, and finished a back-cut layup. She continuously pursued rebounds and jumped passes to create steals. Sam plays in a way that gives the team balance on both ends when she is on the floor.

Elizabeth had a solid day at 3-Phase for Okemos. She used her length to block shots and create steals on defense. Elizabeth pushed the ball with pace to create scoring in transition and used a crafty high pick-up move to score a left-handed layup. She heated up from the perimeter, hitting a corner 3 and a wing 3. Elizabeth made a great straight-line cut to the basket to catch and score a left-handed layup. Her length, high motor, and offensive skillset are an advantage.

Natalia had physical strength and quickness that separated her from other guards at 3-Phase. She made a significant impact defensively by cutting off ball-handlers, deflecting passes, and turning steals into transition layups. One of Natalia's best moments was when she turned on the jets to beat the defense back and scored a crossover left-handed layup at the buzzer. Natalia showed her outside range by knocking down a corner 3 and a smooth straightaway triple off the dribble.

Quite frankly, Annie was the most dominant front-court prospect at 3-Phase, and it didn't matter who defended her. She scored layups and putbacks off two feet at will the entire day. Annie pinned defenders on her back with strong seals in the paint and finished them off with drop steps or step-throughs. Annie protected the rim fiercely, blocking several shot attempts, and rebounded the ball at a high clip. She had a phenomenal day for Plymouth at the event and is an under-the-radar post prospect full of next-level potential.

Evelyn is a versatile player who does a little bit of everything to help Plymouth succeed and she consistently did so again at 3-Phase. Evelyn shoots from a balanced platform beyond the arc and she buried triples from the wing and up top. She kept herself in position to deflect passes on the perimeter, blocked shots, and caused several steals throughout the day. Evelyn beat defenders with her dribble in transition, finished layups comfortably with either hand, and dropped in a soft floater. She has a 30-point performance under her belt this season and it's easy to see how she can take over games on the stat sheet.

Acelynn gave Southgate Anderson an offensive spark with her sharpshooting from the perimeter at 3-Phase. She had her sights dialed in and knocked down several wing 3's off the catch with balance and a smooth follow-through. Acelynn worked hard on defense, secured rebounds, and moved the ball quickly to teammates.

Scarlett drove hard to the basket at 3-Phase and made an impact with her aggressive style. She attacked defenders off the dribble to cause a foul, finished off two in the paint, and scored a layup after cutting to the basket. Scarlett pressured the ball to create a steal on defense and battled to secure an offensive rebound then completed the putback.
