I am somewhat surprised that [player_tooltip player_id='311393' first='Molly' last='Boge'] of North Linn is still uncommitted following her high school career. This is someone that may be competing at the 1A level but over the past 3.5 seasons, she has been a killer on the Varsity floor. Ever since I can remember, Boge has been a constant for this program in multiple ways. She can score it, pass it, and defend it - all pretty well, while being a sound communicator and teammate to the others around her. This Winter she has been killing things once again and making a name for herself to anyone that may be spectating at that time. With her mixture of shifty guard play, her shooting ability, and all the other things she brings to the table, this is definitely a college level prospect that just needs to find her fit. She is currently still putting up great numbers ever single night and that's really all you can ask for as her team sits at a cool 16-1 moving into February.

[player_tooltip player_id='1169121' first='Morgyn' last='Bender'] of Mid-Prairie High School is a prospect with an interesting mixture of size and ability. At 5'11, Bender has demonstrated the ability to handle her matchup inside the painted area or she can step out to shoot the 3 ball at a higher rate than most her age. When you look back at this season, Bender isn't one of the top scorers for her team on a consistent basis but I think a performance like she had last night is something that could be more common in the near future. In their victory, Bender ended the contest with a game high of 21 points on 9-12 shooting from the field. This outburst may seem random right now but with steady progression, this is someone we could hear more and more about over the next couple of seasons. Especially if her team continues to win at the rate that they currently are and she continues to put up impressive stat lines.

The Saint Ansgar Saints recorded another victory on Tuesday evening to propel them to a 12-4 record moving into the end of January. In the win, the prospect that stepped up the most for either side was Forward, [player_tooltip player_id='1169117' first='Jacey' last='Johnston'] of the Saints. Johnston is a 5'10 Forward, that plays to her own strengths whenever she can. She doesn't seem to be the type to step out and hit three's but more-so she works inside the lane looking for her production. For example, last night Johnston was a calm 6-12 shooting, recording 14 points and 16 rebounds. As you can tell, no one from the opposing team had an answer for her and the Saints made them pay for it because of that fact.

[player_tooltip player_id='883552' first='Braylyn' last='Birmingham'] is a Top Five ranked player within her 2028 Class because of what she can bring to the floor. She can bring high level game play offensively, being a three level scorer and someone that can facilitate whenever there are open teammates around her. Defensively, this is someone with lengthy arms and quick reaction times. She seems to play off of instinct more than anything else and that instinct leads to a lot of success in the categories of creating turnovers. An example of what BB can really do was last night when she went ballistic against Pella Christian High School. In the end, the final was 72 - 36 Norwalk. Birmingham finishes with a 36 points herself on 12-17 shooting, including going 7-9 from behind the three point line. A pretty impressive showing if I do say so myself.

ACGC is quietly putting together one of the best seasons throughout the state of Iowa at this time as they sit with a 16-1 record so far. Their leader during this run has been 2026 CG/SF, [player_tooltip player_id='1169137' first='Camdyn' last='Richter']. Richter competes at multiple positions as a competitor. With her mixture of athletic ability, skill-set, and mental awareness - she helps lead her team in PPG and RPG almost every night, no matter who the opponent might be. The Charges have only fallen once so far this Winter but their next real challenge comes within their sub-district. That's when they will have to matchup against other highly established program and that's when the real players will need to come out to participate. As for Richter from an individual standpoint, there is a lot to like here. If ACGC wants to continue with this star studded season, they are going to need her to continue to play like she is possessed.

Whenever you hit a buzzer beater for the win as a player, it sticks with you. Depending on who you are, it may stick with you the rest of your life whenever you look back at your basketball career. Someone who is a major contributor for their Varsity program, that happen to hit one of these shots last night was guard, [player_tooltip player_id='957659' first='Machaela' last='Trask'] of Mason City High School. As time expired on Tuesday evening, Trask drove down the floor and tossed up a contested floater from the elbow as time expired. She ended up hitting this shot, giving her team the narrow victory as the buzzer sounded. Trask is no stranger to the being in the big moment. She is college committed and her best is still yet to come. This is someone that has shown her dedication to the sport over the years and because of that, she will take her talents to Coach Vaught and NIACC following this Winter season.
