Saturday marks the beginning of famed Coach Kipp's Hoops Fest, one of Illinois top girls basketball tournaments. There will be quite a few top tier program matchups on both days of the tournament, but within those games, there could be some standout individual matchups that. Below are my favorite individual matchups that will take place in the main gym for the day two of the tournament.

MY MATCHUP OF THE DAY [player_tooltip player_id='593853' first='Lexi' last='Baer'] & [player_tooltip player_id='642563' first='Reganne' last='Reardon'] (Peoria Notre Dame vs St Ignatius)

Both players are having similar seasons when it comes to impact. Though PND has a deeper lineup in my opinion, slowing down Reardone will be an issue. From the outside in, Reganne is an offensive threat. She's patient, confident, and seems to have no fear of contact or missing a shot. Her skillset has sharpened out a ton this season and has added some muscle to go along with it.

Not too many players in that 2026 class can shoot the ball like Lexi. Her length allows her to play multiple roles, and on the defensive side of the ball, she can guard 1-3 and cause issues for smaller 4s and 5s. She's one of the legitimate D1 players in this class, and she shows that on a nightly basis.

[player_tooltip player_id='728004' first='Sophia' last='Towne'] & [player_tooltip player_id='335720' first='Nikki' last='Kerstein'] (Nazareth Academy vs Montini)

Though both teams rarely set up in a man defense.. Kerstein will be seeing multiple guards try to contain her over the course of the game. Whether its switches, or late rotations, one on one matchups or even double teams will happen, and Nikki has shown time and time again that she isnt phased. her poise, patience and elite skillset allows her to do what she wants, when she wants. She's having a strong senior year as the sole number 1 option for this program that's in a rebuilding stage.

[player_tooltip player_id='493840' first='Greta' last='Thompson'] & [player_tooltip player_id='758055' first='Emily' last='Naraky'] (Fremd vs Loyola)

Fremd usually holds 1-3 Division 1 players per year, and this year Greta is added into that fold. Greta has untapped potential and has been operating on pure athleticism and natural skill. This season, she's found her way into the starting lineup and has shown on multiple occasions that she can be the driving force for this program over the next couple of years. She's active on both ends of the floor, but it's on offense where she truly shines—crafty, lengthy, and fearless.

Naraky has secured multiple offers from Division 1 programs, and when you watch her play, it's easy to see why. Her awareness and simple yet effective skillset highlight her versatility and ability to fit into various schemes. As she continues to develop, her game will sharpen, making her one of the standout players from this sophomore class.
