Laker MLK Classic: 2028s Make a Splash

Twelve teams attended the event as Grosse Pointe South defeated Riverview 56-43, Ypsilanti Arbor Prep defeated Walled Lake Northern 43-41, West Bloomfield defeated Detroit Cass Tech 54-27, Detroit Renaissance defeated Grand Blanc 67-43, Orchard Lake St. Mary's defeated Lake Orion 62-43, and Clarkston defeated Avondale 62-48. She has a pure shooting stroke off the hop and gave the Knights a spark in the first half, swishing two 3's up top. Fatima threw strong overhead passes to teammates and moved her feet quickly to defend perimeter ball-handlers. Lala used an inside-out dribble to beat her defender, scored a tough and-one layup in transition, and then converted the free throw. She worked hard on defense and turned a steal into a left-handed layup. Madie found her hot spot in the corner and drilled two smooth corner 3's off the hop. She created space with a lateral dribble, kept her balance, and drilled another corner jumper. She pressured the ball to create steals and made a great extra pass assist on a drive to the basket. Kassidy scored a layup off a steal, drilled a straightaway 3, and added a smooth step-back 3 from the wing.
