Last night [player_tooltip player_id='311388' first='Lauren' last='Walker'] of Central DeWitt High School set the record for the most points scored throughout a high school career at Central DeWitt with 1,463 points and counting. Prior to this record being broken, it was previously held by Lindsay Smith at 1,452. Walker has been a constant for 3.5 years at the Varsity level. She is a crafty guard, that has a twitchy first step and a hard-nosed demeanor. Central DeWitt is in a great spot right now looking toward the Post-season with Walker in charge. If they stay true to their roots, they should be able to make a run, pushing for a spot at the State Tournament in Des Moines.

When the next 2025 PGH Update is disclosed in March, [player_tooltip player_id='1131060' first='Mattea' last='Kassebaum'] of Lincoln Christian will join those rankings in a fairly high position. Kassebaum is an unquestionable leader with the rock in her hands and she demonstrates that every evening she competes. She has a natural quick first step when attacking her defender in individual settings but more-so, she is attentive as to where the other teammates around her will be at, always giving them a crispy pass in some sort when creating. For this being a pass first PG in a lot of ways, Kassebaum just reached over the 1,000 career point mark. A goal that I'm sure she is proud of but not satisfied with. At this point in the process of recruitment, this is someone with options to compete at almost every division level following this next month so now it all comes down to where she wants to be located. I'm not sure where her final destination is going to be just yet but I'm sure she is weighing all of her options at this time.

[player_tooltip player_id='336045' first='Sarah' last='Gatwech'] is committed to East Texas A&M to compete at the next level and I think she is going to make an immediate impact within that program. Gatwech is lengthy, skilled, and agile for her height at her position. She is very good using her long arms and big strides in the open court to create easy opportunities for herself or others that may become open. Defensively, she can switch between the 1-4 or even the 5 on the high school floor but at the next level she will most likely stay between the 1-3. As of most recent, Gatwech broke her LNS High School's record for points throughout a varsity career. She currently sits with 1,112 and counting as we move into the last few weeks of the Winter season. The breaking of this record occurred because this is someone who stacked her days from week to week and that helped her build on her weakness over the past couple of seasons. This is just a small example of what Gatwech can do and what she can bring to the floor at the next level.

At the next level [player_tooltip player_id='311377' first='Mya' last='Crawford'] is going to be a defensive specialist, while also is someone that can step up to play some PG/SG under pressure on the offensive side of the ball. To kick off the 2025 calendar year, Crawford hit the 1,000 point mark with her Jaguar's squad. This accomplishment is a big deal when you consider the success that this team has had the past couple of years. To be able to score at a thorough rate is a necessity in today's game at the next level and I think that Crawford is going to grow into her own even more over the next couple of years. She just needs to get acclimated to the college environment and the rest could be history.

The legend of [player_tooltip player_id='311389' first='Haylee' last='Stokes'] is something that we will speak about for years to come. This has been one of Iowa's more complete hoopers throughout her years at the varsity level and her production proves that. A week or two ago, Stokes hit the 2,000 point mark for her career. As this might not be a huge deal to some, this is not a mark that is hit too often by prospects out of Iowa. We usually get 1 or 2 every few years that do it but that's usually with someone playing at a smaller level. It's a rarity to produce these numbers in the 3A, 4A, or 5A Classes but that just speaks to how impressive this feat really is. In the end, we have to remember that this is a D1 player that choose her fit within a program, over a label. That speaks to how mature she is mentally and that's only going to help her go further on her basketball journey.

A lot of the success that South Hardin has had over the past 3 years is due to the effort of [player_tooltip player_id='896460' first='Alli' last='Sheldahl'] at the Forward position. The reality is that Sheldahl is just competing against competition that she is bigger, stronger, faster, and more coordinated than. She does also display the talents to be a skilled prospect in most situations imaginable so it does makes sense that she broke the schools all time scoring record earlier this Winter. With a few more games to play Sheldahl is going to continue to put in work and stack onto the current record she possesses. Hopefully giving her team some chances when the Post Season rolls around.
