USE CODE "tinnon30" FOR 30% OFF THE FIRST PURCHASE OF ANY SUBSCRIPTION

As we move forward into the pre-qualification round in the February Frenzy where the winners will join the big dance, a lot is at stake as teams move forward into action. You saw how closely (things can go either way with a coin flip) can be, with this system I am doing any team can win and you all kind of can get a feel for how the tournament will be moving forward.

Now as we go back into our pretend tournament. Here are the matchups and outcomes for today.

Tennessee State

It's a packed house here at the Gentry Center on the TSU campus. Fans are coming out in droves as the Clarksville Christian Lady Centurions battle the Cannon Co. Lady Lions. [player_tooltip player_id='821620' first='Lauren' last='Hassell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='821657' first='Marley' last='Spiers'] will be tough to handle in the paint, but look for [player_tooltip player_id='782176' first='Abi' last='Alexander'] and company to have something up their sleeve. A player to watch in this game will be [player_tooltip player_id='231488' first='Niah' last='Rhodes'].

Senior PG is the floor leader for the Lady Centurions. Her bigs may receive a lot of love, but she quietly works behind the scenes. Averaging 15 ppg, she receives a lot of kickout passes and open shot attempts that are freed up from double-teams placed on her interior teammates. Plays with speed, can get downhill, and plays super tough defense.

Cumberland University

At the home of the Phoenix, Gatlinburg-Pittman looks to take on Nolensville for what should be a closely contested matchup. These teams are both built very similarly with some talented young ladies who can play the game of basketball. GP is led by [player_tooltip player_id='513230' first='Maliyah' last='Glaspar'], a heady PG who is super tough in the open court. Nolensville is led by Nya Johnson, an up-and-coming star not only in the WilCo area but is making noise throughout the state. Her teammate Sara Brakefield is another component that makes the Lay Knight's attack lethal. Here are a few other players to watch out for from these clubs.

Sharpshooting guard who can fill it up. She can spot up along the arc and knock it down as well as finish around the rim. She contributes not only in the scoring column but gets after it on the boards as well where she leads the team in rebounding. She is a heady ballplayer who doesn't force the issue, plays with poise, and has a knack for being in the right spot at the right time.

Scoring is in her DNA and she comes from a line of hoopers in the Ladd family who can fill it up. Josie has great size and is one of the young Lady Knights who has seen some action early this year. She can score it from multiple spots on the floor, giving her squad a lift when needed. She's solid in all facets of the game, where she contributes in multiple statistical categories. Look for her to continue to ascend as she gains more court time.

A big-time scoring threat who can attack the rim offside from Malon. She averages 15 points from the field, where she too has an impressive scoring acumen herself. Can put the ball on the floor, pull up in the mid-range, 3 ball, you name it, she can fill it up and bring another scoring option for the Lady Wildcats.

Trevecca

It's going to be an all-out Trojan war at the home of Trevecca. The Lady Panthers of Bartlett will look to take on the Lady Wildcats of Livingston Academy. Bartlett brings size, speed, and length into the contest, while LA will look to bring grit and being fundamentally sound to gain an advantage. Here is a player to watch in this contest.

This hardworking PG is what this program needed. Someone who can handle the ball, run the offense efficiently and effectively, and score by knocking down open looks or getting paint touches. She is a solid defender who gets after the opposition. Possesses quick feet, and active hands, and she creates havoc on the defensive end which leads to turnovers. Solid PG who has become a big factor for the Lady Panthers ball club.

Now that we have taken looks from around the league, let's get the games going!

TSU Site Game

1st 2nd 3rd 4th F

Cannon Co. 1 0 0 0 1

Clarksville Christian (H) 0 1 1 1 3

Cannon Co. came out of the gates fast winning the first quarter over Clarksville Christian. The Lady Centurions settled in and got to work grinding away in the interior. They were just too much for the Lady Lions and Clarksville Christian will advance to the next round they look to take on Westview in the opening round of the February Frenzy.

Fisk University Site Game

1st 2nd 3rd 4th OT F

Union City 0 1 1 0 1 3

Clarksville (H) 1 0 0 1 0 2

Talk about a closely contest matchup that saw this barn burner go into overtime. These squads threw jabs and punches which led to an overtime bout. In the end, the Lady Tornadoes of Union City move on to the next round. They will open up with White Co. in their first-round match-up.

Cumberland Site Game

1st 2nd 3rd 4th OT F

Gatlinburg-Pittman 1 1 0 0 1 3

Nolensville (H) 0 0 1 1 0 2

This was a tight game throughout. GP won the first half going into halftime up big. Nolensville battled back, sending the game into overtime. GP handled adversity well and came out on top. GP will advance to the next round and take on Pickett Co. in their first-round game.

Trevecca Site

1st 2nd 3rd 4th F

Livingston Academy 0 0 0 1 1

Bartlett (H) 1 1 1 0 3

Bartlett pounced on the Lady Wildcats early and held the lead throughout the game. There was a late surge from LA, but Bartlett already had done the damage. The Lady Panthers will move to the next round to face Bradley Central in their opening matchup.

Stay tuned to see what's in store for the first round of games in the February Frenzy!
