Saturday evening, I was able to check in on the Semi-State action at Frankfort (Warsaw vs. Hamilton Southeastern), Southport (Lawrence North vs. Pike), and Huntington North (Norwell vs. Columbia City). Below is a look at several players who I felt stood out in what I was able to see from each of those games. I was in attendance at one Semi-State location, but I was able to catch the rest of the action throughout the night on the IHSAATV streams.

Joslyn has proven to be an outstanding floor general for the Lady Tigers, and she does it in so many ways. She can handle the ball, play a traditional point guard role, and she's willing to find open teammates in positions to score. Additionally, she is a very good perimeter shooter, she can glide to the basket almost effortlessly, and she has put up multiple 30-point scoring nights this postseason. She has nice length and can affect passing lanes defensively as well. It's a little surprising she doesn't have more Division I offers already.

Brooke is a fantastic perimeter shooter, as evidenced by her 106 made 3-pointers this season and 46% shooting from long range. She is a really nice athlete with length, and she can use the dribble to get to the rim as well. She has erupted for some big performances throughout the season, including five outings where she made 7 or 8 3-pointers each. Against Hamilton Southeastern, she got the Tigers rolling with a huge first half. I still contend that even for as good of a scorer as Brooke is, she is an outstanding defender as well.

"K.K." is another one of the top point guard prospects in the entire state, regardless of class. She is an elite on-ball defender, she uses her quickness and length tremendously in that capacity, plus she is a selfless floor general who has a nice handle, great vision, and the ability to find open teammates through the smallest of holes. What she's starting to do better is take (and make) big shots late in games, and she did her best to help the Royals try to take down Warsaw in the Semi-State finale. I expect a big Spring out of her.

When Kya is locked in, the Wildcats are tough to beat, and they have really benefitted from her play this postseason. She is a fairly strong, athletic lead guard, and she does a really nice job of playing with poise and patience. She always has her head up scanning the floor, but she also presents opponents with an offensive threat and nice jump-shot that they need to respect. She can rip off 20 points pretty easily, or she can hand out 8 assists, pick up 6 steals, or even get inside and grab 7 rebounds. Whatever is needed, she is capable.

If Ke'Adriah has been anything, she's always been a talented athlete who can get downhill quickly. She is explosive in transition, and she's difficult to contain off the dribble. She has improved her handle this season and become more dynamic, she has shot it better from the perimeter as well, plus she looks like she is defending with much greater urgency. She has the physical talent to be an elite on-ball defender. She finished the game strong against Pike on Saturday, and the Wildcats will need a big effort from her against Warsaw this week.

I felt like in what I saw of Pike on Saturday, Alonna really stood out and looked like she was ready for that moment. She was extremely active, involved at both ends of the floor, and constantly made plays for the Red Devils. She is so long, smooth/fluid athletically, and she does a little of everything well. She was finding open teammates, getting to the basket herself, and she was effective defensively. She even blocked a big shot late and pulled down a couple of key rebounds in their loss to Lawrence North.

Vanessa had an outstanding game Saturday against Columbia City, and she did it in a variety of ways. Offensively, she was able to knock down jump-shots from the perimeter, and oftentimes she needed to create space with the dribble. She is great attacking the basket, especially right-handed, and she absorbs contact well. She created for others, plus she was effective at the defensive end of the floor, where she was able to defend without fouling, and she was very active on the boards. Her recruiting could take off this Spring & Summer.

Macie has quite the story. After playing Freshman ball as a Freshman and mostly Junior Varsity last year as a Sophomore, she has become a star for the Lady Knights Varsity, and she is an outstanding perimeter shooter who will only get better as she continues getting stronger. She was hot early for the Knights, hurting the Eagles from outside. As the game wore on, though, I saw her start to do more off the dribble and affect the game defensively. She is a very intriguing prospect, and there are always a lot of colleges looking for quality shooting.

Addison unfortunately caught the eye of the officials early in the Semi-State finale and had to sit quite a bit with foul trouble. However, when she was on the floor, especially for the majority of the fourth quarter, she was dominant. She left nothing behind, scored the ball, made big shots, created for others, rebounded, defended, and made sure she would give it everything. Each time she entered the game, Columbia City seemed to make a run. They even took a near 20-point deficit down to a couple of possessions late before she fouled out.
