In this article we highlight five prospects out of the 2028 Class in Iowa that have recently been added to our PGH system during this Update. Each individual is someone that has shown some promise in one way or another over their years on the Varsity floor. There is no doubt about that.

[player_tooltip player_id='1186492' first='Brooklyn' last='Hughes'] of Akron-Westfield High School is a name to know if you don't already out of the 2028 Class. Hughes, a 5'6 PG/SG, displays a sound ability at this stage in her career as a guard. She has some athleticism, she is fundamentally sound in her efforts while trying to set up her team's offense, she can control tempo when the basketball is in her position, and she shows moments of impactful leadership when times might get challenging. If you know about the Hughes family, you know they are a bunch of ballers. Brooklyn's older sister is a 2025 that will be attending Simpson following these new few months. If BH continues to work hard enough, she could be following these same footsteps, if she so chooses.

Stepping up and making an instant impact on the brightest stage isn't the easiest task but [player_tooltip player_id='1190186' first='Raelyn' last='Kempema'] of Hinton High School accomplished this feat just a few weeks ago when the Blackhawks brought home the 2A State Title. Kempema has been demonstrating her worth all season long but in Des Mones, everyone got to see it first hand and it was noteworthy. Kempema is a 6'1 Center/Power Forward that has an efficient scoring ability, an act for getting important rebounds on both offense and defender, and she is impactful on the defensive side of the ball as a stopper near the bucket. Overall she has shown a lot of promise up until this point in her basketball career. If she continues to produce like this and the correct recruiting coordinators are in the building, who knows who might offer her before she closes out her high school career.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221191' first='Ellie' last='English'] brings to the floor some height, a mixed skill set between a guard and a forward, and some basketball IQ to pair along with both of those things. Over her time the next few years, this is someone that might turn into more of a guard by the looks of it. She is always going to play near the basket at her smaller high school but when she gets on the travel floor and competes with a bigger pool of players, she will likely compete on both the inside of the paint and out on the perimeter. I'm expecting English to start off this AAU season hot with her AIA team and hopefully she can take the momentum from that into her sophomore season this upcoming Winter.

Some players just understand how to brings the positive energy. It doesn't matter what the situation happens to contain, some just have an aura about them and from the looks of it, [player_tooltip player_id='1203431' first='Chere' last='Ambers'] falls into that category. Ambers is an ELECTRIC play-maker at the PG position. She has a speedy handle, better than average vision, and the ability to create. She can also go get her own at the bucket or off of a jumper if she is given enough space. Amber might be a new addition in this Update but she is ready to take the AAU scene by storm and show everyone what she is all about.

Clinton is on the rise. Some might not expect it or understand what's going on but they are going to be a team to beat in the 4A Class in seven months. One of the reasons for that will be the role players that they possess. Players like [player_tooltip player_id='1220516' first='Alli' last='Haskell']. Haskell would even be considered more than just a role player. She is going to be a lethal threat on the offensive side of the ball when their PG creates. She might be catching it and hitting three's. She might catch it and attack the defense to create for others herself. It just comes down to the situation unfolding in the moment. Don't sleep on Haskell or Clinton. They are going to be a hot topic of conversation before you know it.

You can tell that [player_tooltip player_id='1098694' first='Kendyl' last='Aarhus'] wants to shoot the basketball from deep with her coordinated footwork, her ability to shoot of the catch or dribble, and her knowledge of where to run too in open space so that she can get an easy look of an assist from a teammate. She can also put it on the ground and get to the basket or finish somewhere in the midrange but her best ability is shooting it from behind the three point line right now. Defensively, she works hard and listens to what the coaches are asking of her. Something everyone can respect from an outside point-of-view. This upcoming season at Marion is going to be an interesting one. They will need to find new sources of production on both sides of the ball and I think Aarhus could find herself seeing quality minutes on the varsity floor because of that.
