HM Valerie Blankenship
Valerie Blankenship stepped up this season for a Woodgrove team that lost their three best players. Valerie was one of the best shooters in the state this season and was the district player of the year in the Catoctin district. Valerie had a handful of huge shooting performances and was a first-team all-state selection in class 4.

HM [player_tooltip player_id='746291' first='Ellie' last='Friesen']
[player_tooltip player_id='746291' first='Ellie' last='Friesen'] was the leading scorer for a good Meridian team. She is a terrific shooter and a nice two-guard. Although she had a little bit of a down year shooting the ball, she was still very solid.

HM [player_tooltip player_id='718370' first='Emma' last='Komaily']
[player_tooltip player_id='718370' first='Emma' last='Komaily'] has been a great two-way player her whole career for Woodson. She is a great shooter and was Woodson's leading scorer with 12.4 PPG. She was first-team all-district and second-team all-region.

HM [player_tooltip player_id='738503' first='Nora' last='Stufft']
[player_tooltip player_id='738503' first='Nora' last='Stufft'] is a do-it-all-player for Meridian. She is excellent at the rim, and she is a tremendous defender. She rebounds bigger than her size, and she plays hard. I tagged Nora as a “glue girl” coming into the year, and she does whatever needed to win.

HM [player_tooltip player_id='827295' first='Tatum' last='Olson']
[player_tooltip player_id='827295' first='Tatum' last='Olson'] was a two-way star for McLean this year. McLean struggled as a team, but Tatum was a bright spot for them. She has a lot of the tools you look for to be effective off-guard at the next level. She was a second-team all-state selection in class 6.

[player_tooltip player_id='598926' first='Anya' last='Rahman'] hit a lot of big shots in big moments this year, and she was one of the best guards in NOVA. Anya is a great ball-handler and shooter, and she is solid on the defensive end. She was district Co-player of the year and a second-team all-state selection. Langley won their district and their region as well.

Heading into the year, I don't think I gave West Potomac the respect they deserved. They were one of the best teams in NOVA and had a lot of talent. [player_tooltip player_id='755782' first='Olivia' last='Jones'] was this team's best player and one of my favorites all year. She consistently hit big shots and was the engine for this team. Olivia is a great shot creator and a highly skilled PG. She was second-team all-state in class 6.

[player_tooltip player_id='239387' first='Kennedy' last='Parrott'] repeated as district player of the year on one of the best teams in NOVA. She is a great mid-range shooter, and she gets an amazing lift on her shot. She was a first-team all-state selection.

[player_tooltip player_id='389125' first='Georgia' last='Simonsen'] has been dominant on both sides of the ball for years for Robinson. Georgia is a complete offensive player now. She scores on all three levels, and her mix of size, skill, and athleticism makes her a difficult matchup. She is an elite defender as well. Georgia was a first-team all-state amongst many other awards.

At my other Forward spot, I have [player_tooltip player_id='307651' first='Alexandria' last='Brown']. Osbourn Park was as good as any public school team in the state this year, and they were absolutely loaded in the backcourt. Alexandria held down the paint all year. Before the season started, I talked about how if Alexandria stays healthy, she will be one of the best bigs in the state. She stayed on the court and was highly effective for a state title-winning team. She was a second-team all-state selection in class 6.
