VHSL Final Standouts (Class 3 & Class 6)

In the first half, she did a nice job sealing off defenders in the post to get easy buckets off of passes. Daysha battled on the glass in a very physical game, and she used her size well. Daysha also did an excellent job defensively contesting shots at the rim. James Monroe's size might have given her trouble finishing at the rim. As the game wore on, Madilyn started to dominate the game as a facilitator and on defense. Madilyn found players on back cuts a number of times, and when she forced turnovers, she made the right pass in transition. Maddie had two buckets that took Lord Botetourt's lead from 5 to 9 late in the game. She did a nice job driving and playing off others really well. She was outstanding at attacking the rim, even though she missed a handful of shots around the rim she usually makes. She got to the line a lot and made a couple of outstanding passes to players under the rim. Keyarah was terrific on defense, as usual, and she blocked two jump shots. [player_tooltip player_id='749391' first='Payton' last='Walters'] was in foul trouble early so [player_tooltip player_id='786440' first='Janey' last='Salinas'] got in earlier than usual. Janey closed the first quarter out with a three and she knocked down a three in the 4th that felt like the dagger in my eyes. She hit two free throws late to close out an excellent performance. She had a terrific block early in the game and had a couple of other impactful plays defensively. Madison was great on the glass and battled in the paint.
