One of four Prep Girls Hoops Circuit events to take place this past weekend, the two days of basketball during the Roll Tide Rumble certainly displayed why the region is one of the most talent-heavy areas there is.

Two venues were utilized for the weekend's festivities – one of those was the Guntersville Recreation Center. The other was Supreme Courts. The latter of the two venues was where the entirety of the 17U and 16U schedule took place.

A good case can be made that I.D.E. Elite 17U was the best team among 17U assemblings this past weekend in Guntersville. A good case can be made it was the best team – period – at the Roll Tide Rumble. Among this stacked team out of Louisiana is this talented veteran 5-foot-7 guard from John Curtis Christian who was a major factor in the Patriots continuing their winning ways. I.D.E. Elite 17U went a perfect 4-0 at the Roll Tide Rumble. One of its signature wins occurred against SGB 17U Veal where Nelson tallied 14 points. Nelson typically plays at the one, knows how to turn defense into offense, attacks the rim with ferocity and will find plenty of steals.

Need 3-point shooting, make sure that the rock is in Timmons' hands. Need effective interior play? Make sure the rock is in Timmons' hands. She was another reason why I.D.E. Elite 17U was such a tough out this past weekend in Guntersville. In that contest against SGB 17U Veal, Timmons paved the way to one of her team's four victories sans a blemish. Timmons finished with 22 points in that game. When watching Timmons on the court, one can see why she has garnered Division I attention from schools such as the University of New Orleans as well as Southern Mississippi.

The two 17U assemblings that went undefeated in Guntersville were I.D.E. Elite and SGB 17U Barton. Sharpe's sharp skills were a massive reason why the Huntsville-based AAU squad departed from Guntersville sans a blemish. SGB 17U Barton's signature victory of the weekend, it can be argued, was a 55-54 classic against Team Elite Hubbard 17U 3SSB. Sharpe placed 15 points on the scoreboard. Close contests come down to free throws and Sharpe had no problems drawing contact to take her chances at the charity stripe. Sharpe is a centerpiece of a 1A Moore County team that finished with a robust 24-4 record last season.

Kester is the lone representative from 7A Oak Mountain that comprises this rendition of SGB 17U Veal. The team finished 3-1 this weekend in Guntersville with the lone defeat occurring in its final game against undefeated I.D.E. Elite 17U. She contributed 12 points to her team's efforts in that contest and stayed clear of the referee's whistle as she only had one personal foul called against her that game. That game also included her connecting on a pair of 3-point attempts. While she typically plays as a two guard, she displays her versatility with her ability to play at the three in the frontcourt. She formerly wore the [program_tooltip program_id='713934' first='JSI' last='Elite'] uniform during the spring and summer months of club ball.

Gay has successfully translated what was a 7A runner-up season for Starkville into a stellar campaign on the grassroots circuit. This continued into the Roll Tide Rumble where The SisterHood Lady Lions 17U Benson E40 team concluded the weekend with a record of 3-1 (the lone blemish occurring against SGB 17U Barton). A couple of the victories Gay's team notched over the weekend were tough wins over SC Eagles UA Rise 17U (69-61) and OMG Academy 17U (60-56). Gay finished with 18 points to lead her team to that third win. She showcased exactly why she landed her offer from Division I Charlotte last month. She also was offered by Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Southern Mississippi and Jackson State.
