Normally, I watch a lot of out-of-state teams when I cover certified events, yet due to commitments and time restraints, I tried to get as many Texas teams in as possible. Mac Irvin Fire 2027 was one of those squads I caught, and the abundance of next-level talent blew me away

I've already written about [player_tooltip player_id='885956' first='Jordyn' last='Ellis'] in my New Bigs Open Heart Of Texas see evaluation here, but here are some others who left me speechless at times

Guy was one of the best guards I saw at the event, well, she's also one of the best guards I've seen in quite some time. I didn't realize she was a 2028, which adds fuel to the fire, yet her range immediately grabbed my attention. She gave me the pull-up jumper, the "stop and pop" in transition, as well as the "catch and shoot" from deep. She also has a nice first step to attack and score, on the ball defense was solid, and she played the passing lane

Carrier does a good job setting the defender up using a deceptive first step to attack and score, after contact included. She also understands how to create her shot as well as create spacing to get it off, but watching her "catch and shoot" from deep was yet another plus

Alexa had me thinking about asking Alexa how good Alexa was, yet I don't need a virtual assistant to tell me what I saw. She's a "long and athletic" guard, which is the base, and does a good job scoring off the dribble and finishing after contact, body control played a part in that. She uses her athleticism on both ends, her "on the ball" pressure was solid, and she played the passing lane

Todd's name preceded her, as I received an assist a few weeks ago, yet let me say this: her ceiling has no roof, and she's not only "long and athletic" but, at times, ultra athletic. She defied gravity to score around the basket, she gave me some acrobatic finishes, but watching her play the passing lane as well as pick pockets was impressive, as she does it instinctively. She also showed the pull-up jumper
