The 2025 Cagers Invitational was a great experience again this year. 26 different travel clubs attended with college coaches from D2, NAIA, D3, and JUCO programs recruiting both days. There was comprehensive live media coverage both days by LBI and PGH at the tournament, with 20 hours of in-court coverage by PGH this weekend! The attending teams truly received the best possible tournament coverage at the event--every 2029-2026 team was evaluated and watched this weekend. Nearly 60 prospects will be included in my post-tournament write-ups this week, with nearly half being written about for the very first time. That's what Prep Girls Hoops Michigan is all about--discovering new prospects from every club in the state who have the potential to play college basketball at any level. The Cagers Invitational is the perfect exposure tournament for most teams in the state. The organization, staff, format, and competition are terrific. I will continue to support it annually, and I hope to see independent travel clubs take advantage of this great event in 2026! Coming to this tournament gives your players a great chance to put their best abilities on display in front of college scouts, coaches, and trusted media sources. Why Should My Club Attend?

A promising 2028 point guard is back on the court this spring after missing her freshman high school season due to injury. She turned heads this weekend, in addition to several other point guards. Here are a few lead guards who stood out at the Cagers Invitational.

A'leeyah looked ready to have a breakout freshman season for BCJG after a strong spring last year, but an injury put her high school career on hold. She's back to business now and was in peak form for [program_tooltip program_id='932068' first='Michigan' last='Prospects'] 2028 at the Cagers Invitational. A'leeyah was a sniper from the perimeter, draining many triples from the corners with a confident wrist-snap follow-through. She handled the ball effectively with both hands, penetrated gaps, dished strong passes, and scanned the court to find open teammates. A'leeyah drained a balanced straightaway triple off the bounce, cut off drives with her quick feet on defense, and secured rebounds.

Kylee is a hard-nosed and scrappy point guard who showed instincts on both ends that make her an intriguing prospect. Kylee had me saying "wow" when she swiped the ball away on defense, used pushout dribbles in top gear with both hands to fly by defenders, then made a lightning quick transfer to her right hand at the last second to score an acrobatic contested layup. She flew in from the perimeter to save a ball going out of bounds, made smart backdoor cuts off the ball, beat her defender off the dribble then swished a rainbow floater off two feet. She accelerated by the defense with a burst after freezing them with hesitation dribbles. Kylee made a great lob entry pass over the defense, pursued the ball from behind to create a steal, and drained a wing three. Her competitive demeanor, all-out effort, and abilities will be exciting to watch at the high school level.

Abrie was a point guard who grabbed my attention on Sunday at the Cagers Invitational for Macon Basketball Academy 2028 National. She drained a smooth straightaway triple in the semis and kicked off the championship game with a quick layup off the tip. Abrie beat defenders baseline with an explosive burst to score another layup and converted many clutch free throws to help Macon secure the win. Her tight ball-handling and shifty quickness are tough for defenders to contain.

Chloe was one of the biggest difference makers on both ends for [program_tooltip program_id='714546' first='O3' last='Basketball'] 2026 at the Cagers Invitational. She chased down offensive rebounds, and her aggressive defense created deflections and turnovers. Chloe made a great read on defense when she jumped a kickout pass off a dribble drive to snag the steal. She drove hard down the baseline to score a contested jumper, used a quick crossover to drive by defenders for a layup, and jumped high in the air to secure rebounds. Chloe is an athletic point guard and playmaker with a high motor who stands out on the court.

Brynleigh was a point guard who contributed in many aspects to help her Naturals 2027 team be successful at the Cagers Invitational. She drained a smooth wing three off the catch and created space with her dribble to fire shots from a balanced stance. Brynleigh created steals with her pressure on defense and then delivered accurate passes to open teammates. She aggressively ripped the ball out of her opponent's hands and split defenders with quick crossovers in transition. Brynleigh scored layups, knocked down free throws, and used shot fakes to create space to fire balanced shots from the perimeter.

Riley is a passionate, playmaking point guard for [program_tooltip program_id='962126' first='Lady' last='Mustangs'] 2026 who you can't help but love when you watch her compete on the court. She was the most vocal communicator on the floor and stood up to cheer on her teammates when she wasn't in the game. Riley zoomed around to secure offensive rebounds and penetrated gaps with shifty crossover dribbles. She forced a help defender to commit to her dribble, absorbed contact, and dished a perfect dump-off pass for the assist. Riley attacked downhill with a crossover dribble and finished an impressive layup over a taller defender. She swished a smooth corner three and made strong baseline hammer passes to the perimeter. Riley's competitive edge was on full display when she chased down a breakaway layup from behind and jumped high in the air to block the shot. She was exciting to watch at the Cagers Invitational and is the kind of prospect you want on your team.

Londyn was zooming around the court for Michigan Storm GUAA 2028 at the Cagers Invitational. Her quick feet, in-your-face ball pressure, and anticipation of passes resulted in many steals. Londyn drove hard to the basket to cause fouls, converted free throws, and pushed the ball in top gear to blow by defenders for layups. Her ability to create turnovers on defense, penetrate gaps with her dribble, and make quick passes to open teammates helped the whole group shine this weekend.

Ma'Lia is a compact, competitive, and athletic point guard for [program_tooltip program_id='1239167' first='MWA' last='Queens']. Her impact was felt at the Cagers Invitational. She attacks gaps with an explosive dribble and makes ball-handlers uncomfortable with her relentless pressure. Ma'Lia used a crossover dribble on a drive, initiated contact with a defender, sent her sprawling to the floor, and finished with an authoritative layup--she's strong. Ma'Lia showed her range when she drained a straightaway triple, and she converted free throws with accuracy at the line. Ma'Lia finished full-speed layups and made an athletic block on the defensive end. She's an aggressive on-ball defender who can facilitate and score. She doesn't back down from a challenge and steps up against the toughest opponents.
