The Maryland Hoopmasters and Maryland AAU put together a weekend tournament at McDaniel College over the weekend which was two tournaments in one. The MD State AAU qualifier and the Caviness Classic both ran simultaneously on multiple courts. I got a chance to take in a showcase game on one of the main courts and here are some of the prospects that stood out.

[player_tooltip player_id='827295' first='Tatum' last='Olson'], Blue Angels, 2025, Shooting Guard

Tatum was running with Phil Straw's Blue Angels squad for this event instead of her usual squad. She's a shooting guard with good size and exceptional skills. She's very athletic and stayed in attack mode all day. She's a natural scorer with the ability to get downhill and finish inside or step out to the three-point line. She's an active defender with good hands and footwork. She is committed to Emory University.

[player_tooltip player_id='370206' first='Whitley' last='Watkins'], Blue Angels, 2025, Center

Whitley is signed, sealed and delivered to Loyola University. The 6'2" post is looking like she is ready to step right into a decent role. She was a menace in the paint, blocking and altering shots and controlling the boards. She has expanded her offense and now has a nice face up game and can step out to the three-point line with confidence.

[player_tooltip player_id='389125' first='Georgia' last='Simonsen'], Blue Angels, 2025, Center/Forward

This Radford commit showed off some excellent footwork and finishing moves around the basket. She has excellent and size and length and should be an immediate contributor at the next level. She goes to Robinson High.

Zing Yinpobil, Carroll County Cougars, 2028, Forward

Zing has a lot of potential. She is really raw but has good size and speed at 6'1". She has improved her ball handling since the last time I saw her and is playing with more confidence. Her athleticism and length really jump out. She goes to Springdale Prep.

[player_tooltip player_id='874938' first='Samayria' last='Burrison'], Carroll County Cougars, 2026, Guard

Another prospect from Springdale Prep, Samayria is an exceptional athlete with a high motor. She is a lead guard with a scorer's mentality but is good at setting her teammates up. She has some nice change of direction moves and knows how to create space. She has good upper body strength and decent size at 5'8".
