Danyle and I teamed up to cover the Michigan State Tournament rigorously from beginning to end. We are proud to say that every team in attendance received Prep Girls Hoops Media Coverage with hundreds of live social media posts and dozens of Top Performer graphics throughout the day. Here are several 16U Saturday standouts whom I observed.

Mikayla had ice in her veins on Saturday for Big Nik Basketball 16U. She led the squad in scoring, faking out her defender with an inside dribble to drive by for a layup off two feet. Mikayla deflected the ball away after chasing it down from behind and banked in an impressive floater off the dribble. She created space with a shifty crossover dribble before swishing a wing three and caused a turnover with her full-court pressure. Mikayla added an exclamation point to her game with a strong and-one layup after dusting defenders with an explosive dribble--she knocked down the free throw and came through in the biggest moments.

Magnolia is a guard you can't sink off of, or you'll regret it. Mags gave [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'] 2027 team a lift on Saturday of our PGH Michigan State Tournament, sinking four triples in the game I watched, including a slick step-back triple with a quick release off the dribble. Mags keeps her feet balanced and her shooting hand ready to fire whenever she catches the ball.

Jaynie exuded confidence on Saturday at the PGH Michigan State Tournament with MBA UA Rise 2027. She drained 3-pointers up top with sound mechanics and attacked hard to the rim, finishing an authoritative and-one layup plus the free throw. Jaynie aggravated opposing guards with her ball pressure, swiped steals, and created transition offense.

Jessica had a visible impact for MBA UA Rise 2027 with her aggressive play on both ends Saturday at the PGH Michigan State Tournament. She battled to score an offensive rebound put back in the paint, and drained a smooth corner triple. Jessica handled the ball confidently with both hands, actively created steals on defense, and took a steal the other way to score a left-handed layup.

Raeann left a great impression with determined downhill drives and pesky defense for [program_tooltip program_id='713450' first='REAL' last=''] 16U on Saturday at our PGH Michigan State Tournament. She swiped the ball away and scored an extremely difficult layup going full speed through hard contact. Raeann ripped the ball quickly off the catch to get by defenders and penetrated gaps with her dribble to score layups

Jayden is the kind of player every coach loves to have and opponents hate playing against. Her competitive fire was showing and she does not back down from a challenge. Jayden used hesitations to freeze defenders and turned the corner to cause fouls. She buried three pointers from the corner and up top, while also picking pockets with her ball pressure on defense. Jayden attacked the basket with a burst to finish a passionate and-one then tacked on her free throw.

Reece was one of the biggest stories of day one at the PGH Michigan State Tournament--she was my Saturday 16U player of the day. Reece competed with a relentless toughness, effort, and determination on both ends that set her apart. She scored powerful offensive rebound put backs, sealed off her defender with a low, wide, immovable stance to catch an entry pass inside, then finished at the rim. Reece converted contested layups off two feet and won her 1 on 1 battles. She made great backdoor cuts off the ball, kicked the ball out to shooters after securing offensive rebounds, and drove "angry" downhill to score a full-speed layup with her left hand. I described her as a "strong rebounder" in my notes and she also protected the rim as a shot blocker. Reece has athleticism, effort, and versatility that make her an exciting prospect to watch on the MBA UA Rise 2027 team.

Claire had a solid day one for [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'] 2027 at our PGH Michigan State Tournament. She's an athletic forward with physicality and toughness inside. Claire converted multiple layups off two feet around the basket, grabbed rebounds, and protected the rim by blocking shots.
