The first full day of the Champions Challenge starts in a few hours, and before it starts, I'd like to start by highlighting a few kids I would like to see today at some point.

[player_tooltip player_id='1225945' first='Madilyn' last='Thomson']

The Lena native has had a successful career at the high school level with the Wildcats and helped lead that program to a D5 state title game in 2024. However, Thomson has a unique profile. She is a tall guard, standing at 5'10, who can handle the ball and attack off the dribble but doesn't shoot it as much as I'd hope. That said, I'd recommend WIAC schools watch her play because she's talented enough to play at that level, because of her versatility on the defensive end, and her handle.

[player_tooltip player_id='963592' first='Addison' last='Pommerening']

The Arrowhead wing earned spot minutes last season with the Warhawks but could play a pivotal bench role next season. She's a rangey wing who must defend at the high school level, and Pommerening can do that. The Arrowhead wing has the tools to play somewhere and impress a coach this weekend. A regional school may like her physical profile and want to see her play more. Pommerening may be a sleeper in her class, but I like what she brings to the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1173652' first='Lillee' last='Jackson']

The Jackson twins, in general, have been impressive with their 24:Up group when I've seen them play, and I thought Lillee was a standout when I saw them play in New Berlin a few weeks ago. She's a physical and skilled kid with the ball in their hands. I only saw her operate as a back-to-the-basket five at the high school level. Jackson was allowed to operate more on the perimeter in the AAU season, and I feel I've seen more of who she is, which is what the grassroots season is all about. Jackson is a young kid with time to continue refining her game, but she's shown flashes of brilliance in the games I've seen her play this AAU season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1234631' first='Crimson' last='Hansen']

I didn't see the Mauston wing play this past season. Hansen has the athletic tools to make something of herself on the basketball court. Watching her in New Berlin and seeing some of the athletic tools she brought to the floor caught my attention. There is still plenty of work to clean up some of the stuff in her game and make her a more efficient kid on the offensive end, but she has tools that most kids in Wisconsin at the high school don't have, which is what makes her maybe the most intriguing kid to me on her [program_tooltip program_id='1230720' first='Team' last='Herro'] 15U team.
