[player_tooltip player_id='616776' first='Joslynn' last='James'] played like [player_tooltip player_id='616776' first='Joslynn' last='James'] this weekend as her team's starting PG. James made the right play while assisting others at high rate, she made some attempts offensively when those opportunities presented themselves, and she played scrappy defense as a whole. All things you need to do if you want to play at the next level as a smaller guard. I've always been a fan of James and what she brings to the hardwood. She is a true PG with a bright future at the next level one day. She just needs to continue to keep working in her off-time.

If you have a chance to watch [player_tooltip player_id='743591' first='Avery' last='Mullaghy'] compete, you can tell that she is the definition of a floor general. She might not kill you offensively with scoring the rock but she makes everyone else around her better. She is also an A1 communicator and teammate. She is always willing to get her hands dirty and be the first on the floor for a loose ball or stuff like that. Her effort level is impressive and that was all on full display this weekend in Chicago at the PGH Midwest Extravaganza.

[player_tooltip player_id='486484' first='Emily' last='Parker'] might be listed as a SF but she has a natural shooting stroke from deep and she is extremely comfortable with letting it go from any distance when she has adequate time and space. Parker always has her feet and hands ready, she is always low in her stands with her feet set, and she is always willing to adapt. This weekend she was really feeling it from distance. Every time she took an attempt from behind the three point line, it looked like it had a chance of going in. Her release was lighting fast and that helped her get off some tricky attempts. [program_tooltip program_id='712375' first='All' last='in'] all, Parker has size and can shoot. That combination should be of use to someone at the next level. Se just needs to find "her" fit.

Sunday morning the 15U Mac Irvin Fire squad competed with a mixed team of players from the 15U and 14U grade levels. They ended up winning this contest in a blow-out and someone who did a great job of playing up was [player_tooltip player_id='1227877' first='Megan' last='Sedillo']. Sediilo has some craftiness to her game but overall, she is just really fundamental for her age. She keeps it simple, plays off of two feet, and she knows a lot about situational basketball for her age level. On Sunday she was a constant for the Fire in their win. She made her presence known while playing up an age level and that's something you love to see moving into high school b[program_tooltip program_id='712375' first='All' last='in'] June.

One of the most fun players to watch this weekend was [player_tooltip player_id='486548' first='Layne' last='Nordstrom'] of [program_tooltip program_id='712517' first='Full' last='Package'] 17U Black. Nordstrom is everything you want out of a PG. She competes hard, has a high motor, she communicates great, she is extremely crafty, and she is thorough. This is someone that you can give the ball to as a coach and she can go to work as a producer in a number of different ways. This weekend she was her team's #1 PG by creating off the dribble and finding her open teammates in some games. In others she was getting to the spots she is most comfortable with and finishing the take herself. It was really whatever she wanted to do. Nordstrom has a nice showing the past few days. Now it's time to lock back into high school ball.
