I had to come up with this analogy because in Houston, we had some young ladies from our state who are about to take off, especially when it comes to increasing their stocks. We had a good bit of girls from Tennessee who played solid down there. However, there were a few kids that stood out based on their style of play, their ability to score the basketball, and really just how they impacted their games.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As I stated before, it's all about the how and why when it comes to catching my attention. Anyone can stand in the corner and fill it up. What stands out to me is the creativity, the hustle, the ability to attack certain areas and finish against contact. If you want to play at the next level, you have to go out and show everyone you want it. Earn it. Compete. There are only so many scholarships to go around and coaches have to get it right ,so be that prospect that they make a hit on.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are some young ladies whose stocks are increasing that did work in Houston. Strong as an ox, this kid is aggressive, especially when it comes to driving to the hole. She can pull it from the 3, knock it down from the mid-range, and like I mentioned earlier, finish at the rim, carrying along the competition with her. Defensively she gets after it, making it tough for opponents to operate. Contributes big time on the boards, and blocks shots as well. This kid had a stellar weekend in Houston. One of the most aggressive kids on the floor, she's a full go, especially when she is attacking the rim. She plays with such energy and effort, it seems like she is always in the mix no matter what end of the floor she is on, she is always making plays. Has great court awareness, competes from tip-off to the final whistle. She gives it her all and then some as she propels her ballclub towards obtaining a dub. This weekend she displayed no fear as she got after it on the floor. Coaches are flipping pages in their books towards her information. She has always been a tough ball handler, but now, breaking down the person in front of her seems to be even easier. This kid is solid. She plays with heart, tenacity, and competes until there's nothing left in her. Her length allows her to get deflections and steals, especially when her team presses, which equates to points going the other way. She causes problems on the defensive end, which makes it tough for opponents to score. Offensively, she can create off the bounce, distribute, as well as launch from the arc. Plays with poise and such confidence, giving it all she has every second she is on the floor. Look for her to continue to get better and become a name folks will hear a lot of.
