Day One of the Triumph Region Finals is in the books at Columbus State University. Teams from GA, AL, SC, NC, LA, and FL made their ways to the Peach State for one more weekend of hoops before joining their high school teams for June. Here are some of the top players I saw in the 17U division that made some noise:

Sydni was blocking shots left and right when I watched them play yesterday. She used her length and great timing to get up and swat shots the other direction. Offensively, she used that wingspan to snag offensive boards and was rewarded with putbacks for those efforts. Syd is definitely one of the most talented posts in SC.

Madison is a smaller guard who plays up a class and acts as a leader by example and with her voice on her team. She's a high motor guard that makes a ton of hustle plays and is all over the court. Her defensive intensity will wear you down, and she's a skilled offensive threat as well. Madi can hit it from deep or drive to the bucket and elevate above a defender for a bucket.

Stella was the best shooter in the gym in Columbus. Her form and release was a super clean motion that you can tell a lot of time and reps have created. She also passed the ball well and even pushed it in transition with a solid one-handed pass. Stella is strong, athletic, and one of the better around players at this event.

Ava might have been the best player in the entire gym on Saturday. She was dominant on offense from the mid-range with a beautiful pull-up jumper and great body control when she's in the air. Her shot is also lethal from long range & she's just a pure scorer that can get whatever she wants from all three levels. AR was unselfish in her game still as she had a really nice assist when she was mid-air for a shot, but ended up dumping it down to her teammate for an easy 2.

Evie was one of the youngest players on the 17U level, but it didn't show one bit. The lefty can hit the runner and the pull-up at a high clip. She knows when to push it in transition, how to track the ball off the rim, and also moves really well without the ball in her hands. One of the best 2028's I've seen this summer.

Amayah is always a threat to score and be the best in the building right when she walks through the door. She's a three-level scorer that was hitting from deep but can score it from anywhere. Her change of direction with the dribble and stepback move is some of the best I've seen. AB is a creative ball handler that makes everyone better around her.

Bailey was a solid contributor on a team that will push for the championship this weekend. She's a strong, versatile guard that was knocking it down from deep. Her passing and vision were impressive, but her IQ on when to throw a bounce pass versus a chest pass was something simple that stood out so much. I was really impressed with her game and her effort for the first time seeing her.
