Our Freshman Showcase is the tip-off event where our Prep Girls Hoops scouts put a magnifying glass on the incoming freshman class. It's the perfect place for us to evaluate the best incoming freshman and determine who should be included on our first official Watch List. Last year, 20 names were included on the first Watch List release in September, and that number will vary year to year. Right now, we are somewhat ahead of schedule, having seen many 2029 prospects during the winter and spring travel season. Here are eight 2029 point guards who appear to be in store for a big June with their high school teams.

Isabelle dribbled circles around defenders at the Select Events Winter Series tournament in February. She had great court vision, excellent ball-handling, and a knack for steals. Isabelle finished layups with touch around the rim and attacked gaps with a burst off the dribble. I anticipate she will be a difference maker on day one for Cadillac.

Madison came to our Michigan State Tournament, won the Championship, and left with the MVP award after an outstanding weekend. Her explosive finishes, perimeter shooting, passing vision, elusive ball-handling, and defensive pressure is exactly why I believe Madison will have a huge impact on day one for Wayland Union.

Sohia is a scrappy point guard who has impressed me a few times now during the travel season. She can score as a downhill slasher but also make it rain from three-point distance. Sophia has an effective pull-up game, shifty ball-handling abilities, and good court vision. She creates steals on the defensive end and looks like a prospect who will be an immediate impact player at the high school level.

Addy has been a difference maker for [program_tooltip program_id='952340' first='The' last='House'], while playing up a few grades this spring--she looks more than ready to do so at the high school level. Addy drives the ball fearlessly through gaps to score layups and cause fouls. She handles the ball with poise under pressure and sees the floor well to make smart passes. Addy chases down rebounds and works hard on the defensive end. She looks like a point guard prospect with a bright future at Spring Lake.

Delaney first caught our attention at a fall league in 2024, and she continued to shine with MBA during the spring. Delaney has advanced ball-handling control and combinations for her age. She is a force on the offensive glass and pushes the tempo for transition buckets. Delaney delivers passes from different angles, plays hard on defense, and finishes with touch in the paint. She can shoot outside and looks like a star in the making for Byron Center.

Brianna was one of my favorite point guards to watch at our Michigan State Tournament, and she looks ready for a breakout freshman season at Durand. Brianna has explosive quickness that turns steals into fastbreak layups--she gets the edge and finishes downhill drives in top gear. She is a scrappy defender and makes excellent passes to teammates. Brianna fills the net with three-pointers and has shifty ball-handling moves. She earned All-Tournament Second Team honors, and I'm excited to see what she can do at the high school level.

Sydney will be a solid addition to a Goodrich Martians team who will be one of the best in D2. She handles the ball confidently with both hands, dishes passes on a rope to open teammates, finishes through contact at the rim, and knocks down perimeter jumpers. Sydney creates steals on the defensive end and I'm excited to see her against high school competition this summer.

Aubri had a Michigan State Tournament to remember as she led [program_tooltip program_id='713446' first='Hardwood' last='Midwest'] to the Championship game, putting on a show for spectators. Aubri earned an All-Tournament First Team selection. She showed grit, determination, and impressive abilities on both ends of the court. Aubri is a lethal 3-point shooter with dynamic ball-handling moves and touch around the basket. Aubri is an impactful defender, and I expect her to be a special point guard on day one for White Cloud.
