Our Freshman Showcase is the tip-off event where our Prep Girls Hoops scouts put a magnifying glass on the incoming freshman class. It's the perfect place for us to evaluate the best incoming freshman and determine who should be included on our first official Watch List. Last year, 20 names were included on the first Watch List release in September, and that number will vary year to year. Right now, we are somewhat ahead of schedule, having seen many 2029 prospects during the winter and spring travel season. Here are six 2029 combo guards who appear to be in store for a big June with their high school teams. These are the heavy hitters. Every girl in this group has the talent to be not just a starter, but potentially an all-conference caliber player for their high school teams as a freshman.

Logyn has turned heads this spring and built a strong case for why she is one of the best prospects in the 2029 class. When you add length to advanced finishing, passing, ball-handling, and perimeter shooting, you end up with a very promising next-level prospect. She has demonstrated those qualities consistently at multiple tournaments and has the versatility to facilitate as the lead guard or take over as a dynamic scorer off the ball. Logyn will have a huge freshman season.

Evelyn impressed me greatly when I saw her at SkillCase alongside high schoolers as a 7th grader. She was one of the best prospects in the gym that day and looks like one of the best guards in this 2029 class right now. Evelyn creates separation from defenders with her crafty crossover combinations and attacks downhill with a burst to score contested layups. She can fill it up with her perimeter shooting and has excellent court vision. Evelyn delivers accurate passes with both hands and creates for others instead of forcing up shots. She is very athletic with length and effort, which makes her an effective defender. Evelyn is a prospect that I'm very excited to watch this June as she joins a talented Detroit Country Day roster.

Mo'Riyah is a quick and athletic combo guard prospect who shined bright for Michigan Crossover when I watched her play at the April Showers Classic. She is a disruptor on defense who takes steals the other way for two points. Mo makes strong passes to open teammates and is a threat from 3-point distance. She has a variety of ball-handling moves and finishes with good footwork around the basket. Mo is a promising prospect who will be a force at the high school level on day one.

Kinley immediately grabbed my attention at the Select Event Winter Series while she was playing with MBA. Her length as a guard will be coveted by college programs in the coming years. Kinley uses jabs and a variety of combination dribbles to get by defenders. She finishes with a soft touch around the basket and plays well off two feet. Kinley is an accurate three-point shooter and an effective on-ball/help-side defender. It looks like she is going to be a top prospect in this class and a major contributor at Mattawan from day one.

Olivia-Jo is on track to be in serious consideration for the number one spot in this 2029 class. It's early, but her length, offensive firepower, and defensive impact have certainly provided substantial evidence to support the hype. She was the most dominant player on the court when I saw her play against 2029 prospects at the Winter Series in February. In May, O.J. played up against Juniors with Mystics Ruh and didn't skip a beat. Last year, several freshmen from Mystics made the SVL All-Conference team, and O.J. looks ready to take the baton. She will be the premier prospect on a Bay City Western team looking to turn the page and write an exciting new chapter this winter.

Kamryn looked electric at the Winter Series with MBA, and she will be a combo guard prospect to watch with Grand Rapids Christian. Kamryn has explosive, quick-twitch steps that make her very difficult to defend straight up. She is a knockdown three-point shooter who gets to the cup with very few dribbles. Kamryn causes havoc for opposing ball-handlers with her defensive pressure and will be an impact player on day one.
