Some three months have passed since we last updated the Prep Girls Hoops Class of 2028 rankings. Given that there's been a high school state tournament and 10 weeks of AAU competition over that time, a lot can change for freshmen. We've seen highly touted players move their way up near the top of the list. Some mid-pack prospects have demonstrated improvements in their game. Another 15 players have joined the rankings for the first time. We'll bring you the newcomers tomorrow. Our task today is to answer one question: Who raised their stock?

MOVING UP IN THE TOP 20

#5 [player_tooltip player_id='644896' first='Logan' last='Miller'] – power forward, Andover

One fact has become clear in recent months: There just aren't that many players nationally who can match up with Miller in the size department. At 6'3 and not done growing, Logan has a body that's built for high-major college basketball. That led to an opportunity last month to try out for Team USA. Miller (banner photo above) didn't make the squad but she proved she belongs in the conversation. Coming off a high school season in which she averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds per game, Logan has had a very good spring. The [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] post moves up two positions to #5.

#6 [player_tooltip player_id='904190' first='Malin' last='Youngberg'] – guard, Little Falls

No prospect's long-term trajectory has changed more in the past 30 days than Youngberg's. The 5'11 guard has delivered a series of outstanding performances in AAU events this spring with [program_tooltip program_id='713021' first='West' last='Central United'], including during the last Division 1 viewing period. A steady stream of mid-major coaches watched Malin at Live at the Lakes. Since that time, she has received scholarship offers from South Dakota, South Dakota State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, St. Thomas and Eastern Illinois. Youngberg's stock has risen accordingly. She moves up four places to #6.

#16 [player_tooltip player_id='948888' first='Mallory' last='McBeth'] – guard, Wayzata

This is the second rankings update for the 2028s since the Freshmen 50 was announced last fall and McBeth has moved up twice, rising from #28 in October to #18 in February to #16 today. The 5'10 guard (photo above) from [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] EYBL has done so through consistent play on both sides of the ball. She is versatile, reliable and even-keel. Best of all, Mallory makes very few mistakes and can be counted on to deliver when the game is on the line. We love her degree of intensity and level of skill. She made the All-Tournament team at the AAU State Championships.

#20 [player_tooltip player_id='918684' first='Quinn' last='Kemper'] – guard/wing, Edina

Kemper had an excellent spring and summer season in 2024 with the Stars. Then she had a terrific 2024-25 high school campaign at Edina. Since joining [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] UAA for the 2025 AAU season, Quinn's game has continued to grow. Now she is surrounded by a cast of D1 prospects, seven of them in the top 25. The 5'10 guard/wing offers a variety of assets, including length, athleticism and fluidity – the natural ability to move with grace and pace that so many high-level prospects have. She can also score the basketball. Quinn moves into the top 20.

5 TOP STOCK RISERS

+9 [player_tooltip player_id='1209369' first='Kenley' last='Evers'] – power forward, Andover

It's not often that a player ranked below #50 is going to get an opportunity to play for one of the elite AAU programs in the state. When you are 6'3, however, coaches are willing to take a chance. That's what [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] EYBL did with Evers, a physical power forward with an evolving skill set. The move paid off for both team and player. Kenley's game has grown significantly over the past three months as she has adapted to facing the best players in the country in her age group. As a result, she's on an upward trajectory, rising nine positions to #56.

+8 [player_tooltip player_id='905146' first='Harper' last='Vossen'] – guard, Woodbury

From the same [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] EYBL squad, Vossen's game is the polar opposite of Evers and the vast majority of what she brings to the table goes unnoticed by casual observers. Harper is one of those rare players who can go scoreless in a game and still be the most valuable player on the floor. Her job on most occasions is to neutralize the other team's top performers and she does it very well. The 5'9 guard demonstrated that clearly at the AAU State Championships where she earned first-team All-Tournament honors. Vossen vaults eight positions to #35.

+5 [player_tooltip player_id='992401' first='Drea' last='Fernholz'] – guard, Brandon-Evansville

Drea's role with [program_tooltip program_id='713021' first='West' last='Central United'] 2028 Blue is almost identical to that of Harper. Also 5'9 and vastly under-appreciated, the small-school guard from central Minnesota (pictured above) has the length, athleticism and quickness to give opponents fits. At any given time, though, she can make things happen on the offensive end, too. Drea plays fast, gets downhill in a hurry and isn't afraid to let it fly from three. On a WCU squad where [player_tooltip player_id='904190' first='Malin' last='Youngberg'] and [player_tooltip player_id='565313' first='Elsa' last='Retzlaff'] garner most of the headlines, Fernholz is a talented prospect with a ton of potential. She moves up to #46.

+4 [player_tooltip player_id='939749' first='Nadia' last='Adedokun'] – forward, Moorhead

Hailing from the most westerly reaches of the state, Adedokun came into last summer as a player with untapped potential and limited high-level basketball experience. After a season on the [program_tooltip program_id='713021' first='West' last='Central United'] White (second) team, she earned a promotion to the top Blue squad and has made the most of it. Nadia's skillset has grown exponentially, her confidence has blossomed and her ability to make things happen around the basket has improved a ton. This 6-footer is now a scholarship-level prospect with real possibilities. Adedokun rises to #40.

+4 [player_tooltip player_id='991231' first='Danika' last='Shindelar'] – guard, Stewartville

One year ago, Shindelar was known primarily as Audrey's little sister. Today Danika is an alpha dog in her own right, a player who can dominate a contest for [program_tooltip program_id='774605' first='Southern' last='MN Fury'] on any given day. Danika has grown in height – about 5'9 or so – and become so much stronger in recent months. Over the course of the AAU season, Shindelar has averaged about a dozen points per game. She is a quality distributer, an excellent three-point shooter and she can defend like nobody's business. All of that has resulted in a four-position improvement to #43.

HOW DO THE RANKINGS WORK?

It is one of the most oft-asked questions that Prep Girls Hoops scouts across the country receive: How do the rankings work? Since this is the first year of rankings for the Class of 2028, many of our readers may not be familiar with the process. First and foremost, you need to know this: We rank athletes based on their potential as college players, NOT on their current play in high school. This is a big difference.

In the case of players who have just completed their 9th grade year, there is a huge disparity on where they fit in the high school picture. Some are standout varsity veterans with as much as three years of playing time. Others – mostly those who are part of deep Class 4A programs – may not have seen the floor in a varsity game yet. In our world, both can be top 20 prospects.

For example, a small guard putting up 15 points a game in Class A can be classified as an outstanding high school player. In considering college possibilities, however, the 6-foot 9th grader with athleticism and skill could be a much stronger prospect even if she has not played a minute of varsity yet. We do our best to discern the differences and involve a variety of knowledgeable folks in the rankings process.

For more details on all of this, please visit the How We Rank page.
