Edmond North Summer League Notes Part 1/2

The league has some Gold Ball contenders that are just shaking the rust off or learning to play together with transfers or freshman. I broke it down in two parts. Good luck rest of summer. Nice smooth jumper from the short corners and elbows. Reached a 1,000-point mark last season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Showed quick feet on defending the low post working her way around the post for the steal or deflection. Great wall defense staying on her feet not jumping committing the foul. Someone you have to make sure your box out on both ends as she works for the boards. A matchup issue with the height and outside shooting ability she has. The game I watched to my account she knocked down 4 from 3.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On defense she adds that shot blocker that allows the quick guards to pressure up on the outside. Great change of speed and direction makes her a hard guard to contain. Smart decisions with the ball understanding when to take to the rim or circle out. Impressed with the baseline move as she was patient and let it happen</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Lock down defender that gets in the ball handler space. Good hands and timing on when to go for the steals. What makes her difficult to defend is when she has her back to basket depending on which was the defense is playing, she can turn over either shoulder. Impressive is how many times she gets her hand on the rebound. Definitely a player that could average 10 or more boards a game. Five of those being offensive putbacks. Good passer out of the high post as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On defense she does a great job of putting hands up and not committing a foul on the shooter. He and fellow team mate [player_tooltip player_id='847042' first='Julieta' last='Diaz'] worked together great Tuesday in the high low combo. A nice high post shot that keep the defense honest and not playing back. Excelled in the pic and roll action not allowing the defense to switch. A young lady that myself would not want to play a game of horse with as she has that logo range for a 3. Smooth release on the shot with good footwork getting into it quickly. Always moving on offense either relocating or cutting to the rim for a layup. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A possible match up issue as she does have a good feel with her back to the basket. A tough rebounder on both ends of the floor.
