Mustang Summer League Notes Part 2/3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mustang Summer League got kicked off Monday with 24 Varsity teams and several Junior Varsity and Freshman teams. Plenty of future college players to watch if you are a basketball junkie like myself. I was able to watch some games in between my games. I would like to mention that it was a very well organized event. Excellent way to kick off summer team ball for many teams. Quick break down of few games I caught. Soft hands and a strong power dribble on the block were tough to handle this past weekend. Good job at finding the shooter on the back side drop down coverage. Jaelynn gives her team an option at going inside out on offense. Covers lot of territory in the paint allowing the guards to pressure out on top. A combo guard that has good enough handles to take the point guard position if needed. A very scrappy defender that creates turnovers for steals. Jakary will be asked to step up in the scoring this season with the lost of Richardson to Newcastle. A quick defender that will gives the Lady Titans a tough front line on the press with incoming freshman. Earned all-conference honors last season as a junior who will be asked to step up due to heavy graduation. Showed range on the outside shot that pulled the defense away from protecting the drive. Meaning she knocked down the open 3 on a kick. Drove to the basket weaving in and out of defenders finishing with a reverse spin or step through. Person you must box out on defense as she is scored on several putbacks. A shot blocker with great length and jumping ability who will change many shots at the rim. A good rebounder that could average around the 10 per game range. Like all other El Reno post she has the face up shooting mid-range jumper. She can shoot the 3 pointers, nice pull up mid-range jumper and burst downhill getting to the basket. Strong physical looking guard with ball in hand that has no issues with a up in your space defender. Nice vision on the drives reading the second level defense making the right reads. On defense she has a very quick first step when jumping the passing lane. Nice footwork on the step out creating space for the shot. Deep range that has you picking her up when she crosses half court. Point proven last year in playoffs when she knocked down 6 3-pointers against Alva. Moves great off the ball finding gaps in the defense for easy back door layups. Scrappy offensive rebounder that crashed the board looking for the put back. A player that from my understanding is not on the circuit this summer.
