There were plenty of talented prospects at the Wildcat Shootout — athletic players who attacked the rim, finished through contact, and turned defense into fast-break points. The gym was full of on ball hawking defenders, downhill drivers and transition nightmares. But when it came to pure shooting — players who could stretch the floor and knock down shots from deep with consistency — only a select few stood out. In this article, we highlight the top shooters at the Wildcat Shootout — the prospects who let it fly, torched the nets, and made it rain.

[player_tooltip player_id='1264086' first='Genneve' last='Carrion'] the smooth-operating lefty showcased a versatile skillset at the Wildcat Shootout - shoot the three, finish at the rim, and make great decisions in offense and in transition. Her ability to stay composed under pressure and create scoring opportunities for herself and teammates was very impressive. And then the accurate shooting was the icing on the cake. Every shot that left the young shooter's hand looked on point. Carrion was one of the top shooters at the shootout. She was also a steady, intelligent floor general who played with poise beyond her years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1264088' first='Timberlynn' last='Campbell'] was another young left-handed guard who made her presence felt with consistent outside shooting. In one game I watched, she knocked down multiple threes, including one from the top of the key, and one from the deep corner of the wild. Campbell showed a smooth release with confidence. Her ability to space the floor and knock down the three was telling- it gives Oakridge an added weapon on the perimeter and makes their offensive attack very dangerous.

[player_tooltip player_id='1215720' first='Alyssa' last='Marino'] showcased her shooting range with several smooth three-pointers from the corner. She helped space the floor and had a scoring punch from deep, giving Gateway a potent offensive attack. Marino could also handle the ball well and advance the ball forward off of change of possessions. Her competitiveness on the floor was infectious, but her bread and butter plays were the three pointers she spread all across the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='897274' first='Bryonna' last='Grimes'] shot the ball well, but she was suppose to. That's the respect and reputation the “young sniper” has earned in the sunshine state. Grimes connected on multiple threes in several games. Grimes can also handle the ball and stretches the floor so her talented point guard can operate with space.

Jamiah Ousley shot the long ball when she needed to and she was efficient doing so. Ousley was productive and smooth with everything she did on the basketball. Her three ball stretched the floor and it caused defenses to closeout on her quickly. That was problematic as the lefty calmly blew by defenders and unleashed the smooth lefty floater. Ousley also had the downhill drives and the euro steps operating on max and torching defenses throughout the tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='750603' first='Judah' last='Smith'] contributed in multiple areas and she is showing signs of a young leader with the 'it" factor. Smith, who hasn't even started her 9th grade year seemed unfazed playing against older "elite" opponents. She knocked down multiple three-point shots, a midrange jumper, and showed the confidence and consistency on the court. She flashed a few play making skills throwing a dime to one of her teammates cutting to the basket. Her presence adds valuable depth to the back court, giving her team a reliable secondary ball handler, and another shooter on the floor. Smith was one of the top shooters in the building and that assessment is not made on just the four or five threes she made, but also on her touch, form, and her confidence. Smith capped off her performance with a strong baseline drive that ended in a layup, showing that if you close out or play for the three the young guard can put it on the floor continuing to evolve into a key perimeter threat who can impact the game in a variety of ways.
