It's that time of year again, as the first July "live" period got underway Thursday morning in Louisville, Kentucky. Technically, Division I schools are not permitted to be out until Friday, but that didn't stop the action from getting underway at the Run 4 Roses Classic Tournament at the Kentucky Fairgrounds and Exposition Center. Below is a look at five prospects from outside of my typical Indiana coverage area who stood out when I was able to see them during Day 1's action.

[player_tooltip player_id='1003213' first='Jaylynn' last='Goodwin'], 2026, 5-2 PG, George Rogers Clark H.S. (KY), [program_tooltip program_id='716239' first='Lady' last='Vision']
- I first saw Jaylynn during the April "live" period, and she is absolutely electric. She's one of the fastest, if not the fastest, prospects I have seen this year. She utilizes her elite speed to cause havoc defensively, creating deflections and/or steals and completely disrupting the other team's offense. When on offense, she can turn the corner quickly, get downhill and to the basket, and she does a nice job of finding open teammates. I think several small colleges are really missing out.

Serenity Lancaster, 2026, 6-2 PF/SF, New London H.S. (CT), Connecticut Basketball Club
- Serenity was one of the most impressive players, Indiana or otherwise, I saw all day Thursday. She is extremely long and wiry, but she is very physical and deceptively strong in her frame. She did a really nice job of forcibly winning rebounds, she was seeking contact for post ups, and she often drew contact and finished at the basket. Defensively, not only was she a rim protector, but she also showed the athleticism and effort to sit down and defend wings and guards as well.

Zara Sestan, 2026, 5-9 CG, Box Hill Secondary School (Australia), Recruiting Boost
- Zara was a rather intriguing prospect who is attempting to come to the U.S. in the next year for college. She will actually graduate, reportedly, in December. She has an athletically strong frame, she moves well in most directions, but she's also a savvy, intelligent ballplayer who does a little of everything. She is crafty with the ball and can run/create offense. She is also a capable perimeter shooter who can get hot quickly, plus she is an effortful defender who will rebound.

[player_tooltip player_id='852625' first='Alexis' last='Neumann'], 2027, 6-1 SF/PF, Glenwood H.S. (IL), Havoc Basketball Gold
- Most people who see this Havoc 16U team play notice Alexis almost immediately. She initially stands out because of her height and incredible length. However, once you see her get up and down the floor a couple of times and see her jump, she'll move toward the top of your list of bouncy athletes. Alexis can protect the paint defensively, as she will erase a lot of shot attempts. She can also come out and defend the perimeter some. Offensively, she is mostly a mid-post kid right now.

Rose Clinch, 2028, 6-1 PF, Willetton Sr. H.S. (Australia), Recruiting Boost
- Rose has a solid to strong frame, some length, and she's a highly skilled young '4'. She reminds me a bit of Indiana's 2026 prospect Madalynn Shirley in how she utilizes great footwork and skill around the low block to score at ease. Rose showed off a couple of nice post moves and counter moves in the half I was able to see, and I think she should draw a lot of interest, despite being a youngster from Australia. Defensively, she sought contact, rebounded well, and she sat down on the ball.
