AAU is over with and a few school districts are already back in session for the 25-26 school year. Coming out of the summer, there have been a few Sophomores who have picked up their first D1 offers in the last 6 weeks or so. Here's a look at a few "under the radar" 2028s that have the potential to break out in a big way this season.

A volume scorer from the point guard spot, Creekmore can fill up a stat sheet in a hurry. Maylee was a veteran on one of the youngest teams in all of the KHSAA last season and should be a pivotal piece for McCreary Central this year as they make a push to get back to the regional tournament this winter. If Maylee can improve her three point shooting, she could be averaging close to 20 points per game this year as she already excels at getting into the paint and getting to the free throw line.

There may not be a better 2028 duo in Kentucky than [player_tooltip player_id='898294' first='Takenzie' last='Young'] and LiLi Mangrum. While Mangrum is known for her explosive scoring, Young is a little overlooked despite how much she can impact the game on both ends. An explosive driver with the ball, Takenzie is at her best when she's getting downhill and getting paint touches. If Young can get better at converting from the free throw line and become a dependable three point shooter, she should be one of the best point guards in Louisville the next three years.

Highlands has to replace one of the best players to come through the program as Marissa Green is gone to college. [player_tooltip player_id='898709' first='Maren' last='Orme'] looks ready to step into that role for the Bluebirds. Orme was the second leading scorer for Highlands last year and is known for her ability to score from all over the court. Maren has, at times, settled for three pointers when she should be attacking the paint. Look for that to change this season as I think she will be more of a downhill driver than last season. Highlands' offense will need Maren to be good to be effective and I think she has the capability.

Amis nearly averaged a double-double as a freshman last year and don't be surprised if she averages something like 14 points and 11 rebounds per game this season. Physically imposing at 6'2, Jacklynn is capable of protecting the rim on defense and finishing at the rim on the offensive end. Amis maximized her touches on offense last year and was one of the top field goal percentage shooters in the region in her Freshman season. With a bigger role as a Sophomore, look for Jacklynn to command more of a role on offense and provide a post presence for PCC that they haven't had recently.
