5A has been really good for the past few years and it seems as if though it will continue to be good for a few more years as well. Top team coming into the fall will be Pleasant Grove but the margin between West and Fremont and them is very slim.

#1 Pleasant Grove

There is no secret over at PG as they have have a handful of new players to the program and it would not be surprising if they add one more. Let's start in the middle with nationally ranked [player_tooltip player_id='873276' first='Sutton' last='Villa']. Villa is a legit 6'6 center that is just too tuff to stop point blank. She is getting to her moves quicker and she occupies space and at times she will REQUIRE a double team. They have a few more players with height and leading the way and one of the most versatile scorers in the state is Tabi Clark. Clark is 6'2 and can score at all three-levels and her shooting across the board has seen a massive leap in improvement. [player_tooltip player_id='879706' first='Cash' last='Connors'] is playing much better. They will have two very good lead guards in Janice Sikander. Sikander is a very talented PG that is undersized but she makes up for it in many ways. Sikander rebounds well and she sees the floor with a keen eye. Aaliyash Sikander has been getting time on the floor and she looks great. PG has also added [player_tooltip player_id='873279' first='Siri' last='Burgess'] a player that is a hybrid forward that is shooting the ball much better than last season. This team will be tough to beat.

#2 West

West is on a mission to lock up a state championship and they have the team to do it. [player_tooltip player_id='796794' first='Kylee' last='Falatea'] is a true CG that has next level translatable skill. She has committed to play at Oregon and she was a sought after prospect all over the country. Her ability to control the game and create is what makes her so difficult to defend. She will be fun to watch. West also has a few players coming back that have some height so they will be able to match up well against a few of the bigger teams in teh state. Tiana Fa and [player_tooltip player_id='796805' first='Laite' last='Latu'] provide a duo that they can use inside. [player_tooltip player_id='796811' first='Tia' last='Pan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='847893' first='Jaida' last='Lavatai'] will be great options on the wing that both play physical basketball. West could easily jump to the #1 spot as soon as the season gets going.

#3 Fremont

Fremont makes the move down to 5A due to enrollment decline but they maintain a rich tradition of having talented players in the fold. Fremont will be lead by [player_tooltip player_id='796472' first='Abigail' last='Christensen'] a wing that has been on a tear as she has racked up more than a handful of offers. Christensen is shooting the ball really well and that size and high release has been on the money this summer. She lead her AAU team in scoring and she was also active on the glass. Christensen will be joined by a much improved [player_tooltip player_id='827419' first='Olivia' last='Surrage'] a once inside of 15 feet type of player has expanded her game as she is shooting the ball better and is better off the bounce. Fremont has a lot of guards that will contribute and make them a very tough team to beat as they have looked great this summer.

#4 Wasatch

Wasatch has done a great job this springa nd summer getting their team experience. The Wasps will need a lot out of 6'2 C [player_tooltip player_id='796470' first='Mahala' last='Speardon']. Speardon is in great shape and she has a lot more touch on her shot and her hands are a little bit softer as she catches the ball on the move. Dani Garner has been playing very well and she is under the radar when it comes to her recruiting but she is solid.

#5 Alta

Alta could be one of the potential fastest teams out there. If they can find a way to play uptempo basketball. [player_tooltip player_id='789082' first='Olivia' last='Stephens'] is the real deal and she can play faster than most and still be under control. Her pace is elite and she will be great running along side of [player_tooltip player_id='796802' first='Alia' last='Baldassano'] another guard that can play up and down and be effective. Then you have an up and coming [player_tooltip player_id='927416' first='Sophia' last='Ceballos'] and they have a great guard rotation. [player_tooltip player_id='796804' first='Quincy' last='Kegel'] and Meagan Johnson will be tough as well. This team has a shot to beat some really good teams.
