Across Kansas, a strong group of rising guards in the class of 226, that you might not have heard of yet, are ready to make their mark on the hardwood. These talents range from proven floor generals to versatile scoring threats, demonstrating the skill, toughness, and competitive edge needed to stand out in high school basketball. They have delivered in clutch moments, applied relentless defensive pressure, or stepped into leadership roles for their team; each athlete continues to improve their game while preparing for even bigger opportunities at this level or possibly the next.

Fort Scott senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1263258' first='Abbie' last='Gorman'] continued to prove herself last year as one of the Tigers' most versatile players. Last season, she averaged 10 points, 3 assists, and nearly 4 steals per game, highligting her ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor. She has great quickness and athleticism, and is capable of scoring at all three levels while setting the tone defensively with relentless pressure. Her balance of scoring, playmaking, and defensive disruption gives her the tools to become a key leader for Fort Scott and a player to keep an eye on as she enters the last stage of her high school career.

St. John-Hudson's senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1197396' first='Reagan' last='Bonner'] emerged last year as a key scorer for the Lady Tigers last season. She delivered several double-digit outings, including a 22-point performance against Chase and consistent scoring runs of 11 to 14 points in key games down the stretch. Her ability to step up in substate play highlights her competitiveness and offensive versatility. As she continues to refine her decision-making, she remains one of the Tigers' most impactful players to watch heading into her senior year.

Spearville combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1197399' first='Makenzie' last='Preisner'] has already proven she can perform in high-pressure situations, during some big games as an underclassman. She has versatility that allows her to contribute both on and off the ball, with the ability to create scoring opportunities while also providing defensive energy. Now, as an upperclassman, she has the experience to emerge as a leader for the Lancers. Consistency and refinement against top competition will be key to unlocking her full potential, but her composure and competitive edge already make her one to watch in the seasons ahead.

South Haven combo guard [player_tooltip player_id='1202707' first='Kelly' last='Theurer'] is ready to maker her mark as a dynamic two-way player with the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. During her years as an underclassmen she established herself as a consistent scoring option, known for her quick-trigger perimeter shot and ability to finish in transition. She has speed and a disruptive presence in full-court situations that allow her to turn defense into offense, making her a constant threat. As she continues to develop her playmaking and decision-making, she has the tools and experience to step into the senior leadership role for the Cardinals in the year ahead.
