History has it that girls basketball in Minnesota had its beginnings in Red Wing. Now, a full century later, the Southeastern region of the state is still a hotbed of the girls game. From the legendary Grand Meadow teams that went undefeated for a decade in the 1930s, to Myron Glass' eight state championships at Rochester Lourdes, to the modern-day run of success by the Goodhue Wildcats, this corner of Minnesota has been special.

Today we bring you the fourth installment in our “Outstate Top 10s” series that takes a stab at determining who the best prospects are in Greater Minnesota. Monday, we heard from “Up North” led by [player_tooltip player_id='433933' first='Chloe' last='Johnson'] of Duluth Marshall and [player_tooltip player_id='205310' first='Tori' last='Oehrlein'] of Crosby-Ironton. On Tuesday we went to the West Central region where [player_tooltip player_id='904190' first='Malin' last='Youngberg'] of Little Falls and [player_tooltip player_id='653853' first='Peyton' last='Hoffman'] of Climax-Fisher topped the list. Wednesday we repped the South and Southwest corner of Minnesota where [player_tooltip player_id='280354' first='Tucker' last='Downs'] of Mankato West, [player_tooltip player_id='515673' first='Brielle' last='Janssen'] of MACCRAY and [player_tooltip player_id='498658' first='Morgan' last='Mathiowetz'] of Sleepy Eye St. Mary's vie for supremacy.

That brings us to the Southeast which, for our purposes, is defined by Interstate 35 on the west, the Mississippi River on the east, the Iowa border on the south and a line from Northfield through Cannon Falls to Red Wing on the north. From communities like Rochester, Stewartville, Byron, Owatonna, Northfield and more, we have selected the 10 best prospects and 10 others to watch.

#1 [player_tooltip player_id='458305' first='Audrey' last='Shindelar'] – 2026 guard, Stewartville (South Dakota State)

Long admired for her poise and point guard instincts, Shindelar solidified her status as a top-10 player in Minnesota when she committed to mid-major power South Dakota State. The [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury'] standout made her D1 decision before any other junior in the state, reinforcing what recruiters already knew: she checks every box. Audrey is smooth, efficient, and highly intelligent with the ball in her hands. She sees the floor, executes consistently, and plays with savvy that makes everything look easy.

#2 [player_tooltip player_id='908260' first='Maggie' last='Dyer'] – 2028 guard, Rochester Mayo

Dyer's rise from intriguing talent to highly decorated star was as rapid as it was deserved. A versatile, physically mature athlete with elite drive, Dyer has dominated in high school at Rochester Mayo and with [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'], posting gaudy numbers and changing the course of pretty much every contest she plays. Maggie does the things win games – diving, defending, competing – and also makes the highlight-reel plays. A top-5 sophomore, Dyer is as steady as she is explosive.

#3 [player_tooltip player_id='339214' first='Jayci' last='Rath'] – 2026 gorward, Stewartville (St. Thomas)

A 6'1 forward with bounce, speed, and defensive range, Rath emerged over the past few years as a unique talent. She's long, athletic, and fluid – traits that fuel her dominance on the boards and make her a natural shot blocker. Her motor runs high, and her confidence has risen to a similar level. Jayci's well-rounded game has served her well at Stewartville and with the [program_tooltip program_id='712687' first='Minnesota' last='Fury']. She has committed to the University of St. Thomas.

#4 [player_tooltip player_id='498663' first='Madison' last='Ohm'] – 2026 guard, Byron (Marist)

After steadily forging her rather impressive box of tools over the years, Ohm took center stage this summer when she played for [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] on the Nike EYBL circuit. Madison's speed and explosiveness served her well against the best incoming seniors in the country, but it's her defensive edge and relentless motor that separate Ohm from the crowd. The top-15 prospect has committed to Division I Marist University in New York.

#5 [player_tooltip player_id='806429' first='Amelia' last='Mills'] – 2028 guard, Rochester Mayo

She's fast. She's fearless. She's utterly composed. Mills is an elite talent who has run the show from the point guard position at Mayo for two full seasons now. Amelia's ball-handling is tight, her shot mechanics are clean, and she already commanded the floor like a veteran when she was only in 8th grade. As she has proven with [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'], Mills is an elite floor general with a high ceiling. She's ranked 12th in the Class of 2028.

#6 [player_tooltip player_id='665720' first='Jersey' last='Coleman'] – 2027 forward, Owatonna

Standing 6 feet tall with a big frame and a healthy dose of athletic ability, Coleman brings a power-forward package that blends strength, movement, and skill. She's physical in the paint, active on the glass, and skilled enough to score through contact or finish with finesse. With the [program_tooltip program_id='714566' first='Minnesota' last='Stars'], she's shown great timing as a cutter and an ability to draw fouls with her aggressive style. At Owatonna, the 24th-ranked junior is a force.

#7 [player_tooltip player_id='654990' first='Kayla' last='Stork'] – 2027 guard, Byron

One of the most well-rounded guards in Minnesota, Stork has blossomed into a two-way standout with serious upside. Her basketball IQ is high, her footwork is polished, and her transition game is a thing. The [program_tooltip program_id='712699' first='Minnesota' last='Rise'] guard brings craft, toughness, and consistency to the court and is a relentless rebounder and vocal leader. Kayla is a solid top-25 prospect who favors fundamentals over flash.

#8 [player_tooltip player_id='1095939' first='Raegan' last='Kelm'] – 2029 guard, Byron

Kelm might still be young, but she plays with the grit and confidence of a grizzled veteran. A standout with [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan']'s top 2029 group, Raegan is a lightning-quick, energetic defender who pressures the ball and jumps passing lanes. Her athleticism really stands out with superior bounce and agility. When it comes time to release the Freshmen 50 for the Class of 2029 this fall, look for Raegan's name on the north end of the list.

#9 [player_tooltip player_id='502550' first='Mia' last='Banks'] – 2026 guard, Rochester Mayo (Bemidji State)

Banks has steadily climbed the rankings thanks to her size, shot-making, and continuous improvement over the course of what has been a very nice career. The 5'10 [program_tooltip program_id='712722' first='North' last='Tartan'] Elite guard is a true floor spacer who can hit from deep but isn't limited to the arc. She's physical on defense, moves well off the ball, and plays with confidence. Now a top-50 prospect, Mia offers grit, energy and a big grin. She's bound for D2 Bemidji State.

#10 [player_tooltip player_id='502533' first='Jensyn' last='Storhoff'] – 2026 guard, Lanesboro

Storhoff is one of Minnesota's most dynamic small-school scorers. Her Lanesboro High School team might not get a lot of shine but Storhoff busted her tail in AAU to rise to prominence on the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit with [program_tooltip program_id='712352' first='Air' last='Minnesota']. She posted huge numbers, showcasing deep range and next-level creativity around the rim. Jensyn just brings a joy to the game that's contagious. Currently unsigned, Jensyn is going to be a difference-maker in small college ball.
