Florida Freshman Showcase: Team 1 Overview

On Saturday, players from around the state of Florida as well as other states descended upon Seminole Sports Academy for 4 hours to showcase their talent against their peers in their class. It's an exciting event to see the class of 2029 compete against their own to see where they truly stand at the state level. Here are evaluations on one of the teams I scouted:    This was my first time really getting a good look at Khloe and her game. She shot the ball really well from deep in the 3x3 and 5x5 portions of the showcase. Her form and stroke was one of the most pure and fundamental shots I saw all of Saturday. Khloe could knock it down on the move, in transition, and with little space. She also handled the ball well and did a solid job of controlling the pace for her team and setting up the offense as the point guard.     Ma'Hailey made her presence known early on during 3x3. Her length and frame stood out right away, and she communicated very well on both sides of the ball. She has nice handles that allow her to get to the rack and use her athleticism to finish through defenders.     Alexia was impressive right out of the gate with how much she moved and cut during the 3x3 portion of the camp as that's a vital piece of being successful playing 3's. She has some length to her frame, and was scoring on back cuts or finding the cutter for assists all day long. When she got downhill, she was confident to finish it with either hand at the bucket.     Skylar was one of the best surprises of the showcase. You could hear here throughout the day which is always positive in a loud gym. She finished really strong at the basket with some tough And 1's and runners in the paint. Her ability to step out and knock down the three was impressive as well.     Baylee was another great surprise of the event for me. She was very active defensively which led to turnovers and points for her team. On one possession, she got the steal and went coast to coast before hitting her defender with a nasty shot fake and getting the bucket once they flew by.     Ella was one of the better shooters in the gym in Longwood. Her form is there and her consistency was solid from long range. In 3x3, she hit multiple triples to help her team win. She has good size for her position which allows her to get that shot up against anyone.     Naomi was constantly moving in both portions of camp which is a great thing to see from a young player. Her back cutting and awareness to find the open space on the court led to easy scores and better opportunities for execution for her team. She wasn't afraid to let it loose from 15 feet all the way out to deep 2 pointers. The baseline was her friend on Saturday as she couldn't be stopped driving along it for tough finishes at the rim.     Mina showcased her ability to score it at all three levels. In 3x3, she got downhill and created for herself and her teammates. On the drive is where she either dished it off to her cutting teammate or used her crafty finishes in the lane. During 5x5 is when she started to knock it down from deep and show some versatility.
