Florida Freshman Showcase: Team 6 Evaluation

On Saturday, players from around the state of Florida as well as other states descended upon Seminole Sports Academy for 4 hours to showcase their talent against their peers in their class. It's an exciting event to see the class of 2029 compete against their own to see where they truly stand at the state level. Here are evaluations on one of the teams I scouted:    Samantha was cooking in the 3x3 portion of the showcase by using her length. She was sending shots away and was able to make some nice finishes with the scoop or one hand finishes. Her shot from outside was smooth and she even knocked down a clutch 3 from the top of the key.     Natasha is a quick and shifty lead guard which allows her to compete with any size of player. Her motor was always on go, and she used her speed to fly past defenders and did a nice job of finishing amongst the trees. One of the best plays she made was effectively using a screen and dishing it to the roller for an assist during 5x5.     Faith impressed me with the depth of her bag when getting to the basket with a nasty step through move. She finished so well with her left hand even with tight defense from her opponent. Her game is smooth and she has the ability to consistently down down the three ball. Faith pushed the ball with control in transition and handled the ball well which allowed her to get to the bucket and finish on some tough And 1's.     Aubreigh is one of the most versatile players in this class with her long and tall frame. She plays with a nice motor and rebounds the ball well and keeps it high. Her versatility comes into play when she grabs a board and can push it in transition by finding the point guard with an outlet pass or just bringing it up the floor herself. I was really impressed with her work in pick-and-roll situations as she scored a few times herself on the roll with strong finishes and really opened up the offense by setting those solid screens.     Pippi was unsurprisingly one of the top players in the gym and often had to get things done on her own. I can't emphasize enough about how her body control is so next level in this class. She hit a really nice fade away during 3x3, and was physical on defense by working to get around the post players when she had to match up against them due to her height. Her maturity and poise really showed at this event as she didn't let anything get under her skin and just went out there and competed with what she was given.     Dasha did some nice work in the 3x3 session by knocking down the 3 ball early and often. In 5x5, she was able to get downhill by using her quick first step to get by defenders. She shared the ball well by finding her open teammates and she showed the ability to finish with either hand at the rim.     Gabrielle had some nice takes to the basket on Saturday in Longwood. She knocked down some impressive runners in the paint over much taller defenders. Her handles and effort on both ends made her a nice piece for her team that played her role effectively.     Elissia immediately stood out with nice length and height for this class. She did a great job of getting to two feet in the paint and playing with strength and control. Her energy, hard work, and how hard she played was admirable. Elissia also showed the ability to hit the baseline pull up jumper during this showcase using her height over smaller defenders.
