Skyler Wilson excelled at point guard this fall, effectively running the offense and making smart decisions with the ball. She willingly sacrificed scoring opportunities to distribute to her team’s many capable scorers, including Mallory in the post and teammates on the perimeter. With several strong ball handlers around her, Wilson played within herself, continued to improve, and delivered an outstanding summer. Her leadership and skills make her a prime candidate for the top KID in the room.

Defense has always been her calling card, but the young guard is now learning how to direct an offense with several scoring weapons on every side. Wilson can penetrate, draw extra defenders, and find open teammates for quality looks while also creating opportunities to score herself. She is an unselfish young guard who continues to learn how to get others involved and make the decisions her team needs. As stated, she is disruptive on the defensive end, making her valuable at all times on both sides of the floor.

Wilson is a playmaker that is always around the basketball. She is a player that plays great on ball and off ball defense. Reads the next pass and knows when to shoot the gap for a steal. A player that moves around on both ends of the floor and plays with a toughness that allows her to get in the paint and finish through contact.

Wilson really came into her own at the point guard position this summer, establishing herself as a floor general throughout the camps and showcases. She can knock down the three, create opportunities for others, and does a good job of getting her teammates involved. What separates Wilson, however, is her ability to defend the ball. The young point guard is perhaps even more impactful on the defensive end. Wilson can pick a ballhandler’s pocket off the dribble and is extremely savvy in the passing lanes, where her anticipation creates steals and transition opportunities. Wilson can set the tone for a game with her defense alone.

Wilson also does a great job of defending the ball and applying pressure at the point of attack. Over the summer, Wilson showed maturity in her decision-making and leadership at the point guard position. She plays with poise and continues to develop into a dependable floor general.

At the Invite Only Elite Showcase, she shot the ball well from the perimeter, pushed the pace in transition, and did an excellent job directing the offense. Wilson consistently got her team into its offensive sets while making sound decisions with the basketball. Her poise, leadership, and ability to score when needed makes Wilson an elite young point guard in the making.

She does an excellent job of running the offense, setting the tone defensively, and keeping teammates involved. Wilson can knock down the three-point shot, create scoring opportunities for herself, and showed that she could consistently make the right basketball play. Her unselfishness and leadership stood out, but opponents can’t afford to relax because she is fully capable of making plays herself.

Skylar Wilson Skylar Wilson 5'7" | PG/CG Ribault | 2029 State FL showcased both her skill set and her poise under pressure throughout the summer. Having completed just one year at the varsity level, her growth was very noticeable especially in her decision-making. Wilson consistently made the right reads and played with the confidence and maturity. She was good at penetrating zone defenses, collapsing the defense before finding open shooters along the perimeter. While her ability to create for teammates stood out, Wilson also demonstrated that she could knock down the three-point shot when defenders gave her space. Her combination of scoring, playmaking, and perimeter shooting made her a true triple-threat. Now adding the playmaking to her game, Wilson showed over the summer that the winter will be long for opposing guards. She has the ability to shut guards down and control the tempo on the offensive side of the ball.

Wilson is a tough scrappy guard that is not afraid to defend and use her body inside the paint. A player that once she gets going downhill it’s hard to stay in front of her. Demands the ball on offense and has the ability to score at any given moment. Rising sophomore who is the floor general for her Ribault team. Sees the floor well and pushes the ball well in transition.

Skylar had one of the best finishing packages, specifically with her left hand, that I have seen since the high school season ended. She was able to use her shiftiness with the dribble to blow by defenders on the break and in the half court, before smoothly scoring at the rim. Her footwork was very good in tight quarters and at 5’7 she had no problem finishing amongst the trees. Wilson used spin moves, pivoted, and played off two feet before scoring the ball multiple times with her left hand. I can’t underscore the level of difficulty on some of the lay ups she was able to convert. Skylar also should a big basketball IQ initiating and facilitating the offense and getting other talented scorers the ball in position to do damage. Defensively, Wilson was able to pick the ball off her man several times turning defense into offense converting easy baskets as a result. I was really impressed with her game and floor generalship for a kid just entering her sophomore season of high school.
