Power Forwards

[player_tooltip player_id='621236' first='Lyndi' last='Barton'], 6'1", Wellington - If I had to pick a player as my most improved over the past year it would be Barton. She has always had a great frame and length to compete inside Barton's game became more fluid, her athleticism and fluidness have taken big leaps. Her ability to finish in a variety of ways off the catch, motor and transition speed and work defending in the half court has risen substantially. She showed a perimeter game that has drawn attention from PGH scouts from other states and overall showed why she was a big piece of the Crusaders 4A state champion's puzzle.

[player_tooltip player_id='1264353' first='Amaya' last='Gallegos'], 6'0", Eisenhower - Gallegos was new to my radar earlier this summer. While she brought good size to the position what stood out most was her IQ and maturity. Fluid with solid athleticism Gallegos worked well going left or right and from back-to-basket and face-up spots. She understood spacing, moved well without the ball, scored on the move is a terrific garbage collector. Defensively she showed balance and positioning to challenge opponents trying to set up as well as score off the entry pass. Gallegos played with poise and made consistently good decisions.

[player_tooltip player_id='773202' first='Emily' last='O'Brien'], 6'1", Remington - The Northeastern State University commit continued to show the well-rounded game I have long been familiar with. Long, fast, quick and especially disruptive in full-court defensive situations O'Brien is tricky defending or initiating in-bounds plays. Opponents had a difficult time running with her much less with someone who could match up with her combination of great motor, transition speed and ability to use her size and elevation advantage to gather rebounds and score.

Centers

[player_tooltip player_id='904761' first='Jehsa' last='Opoku-Ahena'], 6'2", Olathe North - Opoku-Ahena is a strong and at times dominant prospect. Very athletic, physical and active in the half court. She drop stepped quickly to get looks off the catch and moved into space with purpose. Able to out-muscle opponents to gather tough boards Opoku-Ahena controlled the ball well when pressured to find her point guard for a quality outlet.

[player_tooltip player_id='621264' first='Madelyn' last='Wilson'], 6'2", Chase County - Having followed Wilson for a few years I looked forward to this summer was seeing how her game stacked up against top legitimate sized and skilled centers. She proved to be problem on both ends. Wilson just focused on making plays, playing solid defense inside and did not get caught up in who she was matched up with. Wilson has a diverse skill set, runs the floor well, has a great framed and good length. What has always set her apart is her footwork and her motor. She has quick feet on both ends of the floor, enabling her to create shots; get to the hole; get to rebounds; deny posts from getting clean entry passes and just get to everything a step quicker than who she competed with. Wilson changed ends with speed and showed stamina in long, live ball stretches. She catches and releases in front court well but also stepped out to hit the occasional three.
