Understanding the Journey of Female Basketball Players

From when you were little, you started on one of those Fisher-Price goal shooting sets. Then you graduated to a goal in the backyard. Then to the rec center. Then to a youth league. Then to a school team. Then to AAU. And so on and so on. Along the way, you developed and honed your skills, different moves, etc. You fell in love with getting better, and it started to show as you competed on the floor. That's the process I love this game brings. Everyone starts the same, but it's your heart, desire, and work ethic that carry you to new heights.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Every day, we have young ladies who do the work to get better. They get up extra shots, train, and eat better. They do the necessary things to create an edge for themselves as they look to take their game to the next level. In doing so, they not only elevate who they are, but also their team and those individuals around them. Again, like I said, I love the process this game brings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This year will be a year where the process will reach an all-time high amongst all classes. From this talented freshman group to these outstanding seniors, competition across the board will be at an all-time high. We have young guns looking to prove themselves and vets trying to finish their last year on a solid note before college. A scoring machine, she can dial it up from all three levels. Last year, she tied the state record for most consecutive 3s made. This season, she will look to not only showcase her scoring ability but also her defensive prowess as they look to compete for state. TD is a solid ballplayer who is a threat every time she steps onto the floor. She was a problem as a freshman, creating mismatches as she was carving up defenses with her ability to score the basketball. She can step out and shoot the 3 ball, do work consistently around the blocks, but what stood out to me was her ability to create off the dribble, leaving defenders in the dust. She is a high motor kid who is big time on the boards as well as blocking tons of shots. Talented kid who can score the basketball in multiple ways. I love her ability to play with multiple efforts, impacting a game in different ways. For example, she can lock a shot, run the lane, and receive a pass from over the top to finish. She can guard 1-5, using her size to cause havoc. She can not down the 3, exploit the mid-range, and finish against contact. She is a solid ballplayer who is going to be one of the leading catalysts for this Lady Panthers squad. This kid is primed for a breakout year. A walking double-double, this kid can score it, rebound it, and really pose as a defensive threat. Her game grew over the course of the summer as she became more confident in her ability. She worked hard, competed against some talented folks, and really earned her stripes. She is going to be a kid who is going to help elevate the Lady Lions team, as she will be able to lock down the interior. She will help bring a balanced attack on the offensive end by scoring down low and creating extra possessions by being aggressive on the boards. Blessed with size, she can knock it down from the 3, but also put it on the floor to go get a bucket. She plays with an incredible motor, especially on the defensive end. She keeps opponents in front, blocks shots, and contributes on the boards. She's a heady ballplayer who plays with poise and can exploit a team's weakness early.
