Up and Coming Players to Know this Winter

The freshman guard looks like another prospect to watch coming out of Colfax. She's got a good outside shot, gets her feet set and balanced early, and can catch and shoot various footwork getting to different spots. She's also shown some good awareness to make timely cuts and can take some contact to finish at the rim.     She's a tough incoming freshman who may be small, but plays with big energy and no fear of attacking inside. She's a quick guard who will run the floor, make cuts through the middle, and look to get to the rim and attack space. Has some craftiness to her game too, recognizing advantages in certain matchups and using hesitations to get defenders off balance.     Beckman is an impressive post player who already boasts a solid all-around game. She's got good size, plays poised in the post, whether it's getting to different moves from the blocks or identifying quick passes to shooters and cutters. She's strong and has the technique to consistently win in the post. She'll be a freshman to watch this winter who has big upside.     Boyer is a physical, aggressive guard who is really intent on attacking gaps and getting to the hoop. She is a guard who can grind defenders down and use her strength once she gets that initial angle in order to get to the hoop. She's also a pretty creative passer and shows good awareness to make reads on both sides of the court in transition.     Wettlaufer is a post player who demonstrates some ability to play both inside and outside. She does a good job identifying opportunities to seal her defender, whether it's early in transition or sealing on ball reversals, she's looking to get deep position and go up. She also has a good-looking stroke from outside that can stretch defenses.     One of the top players in her class, Saldivar-Slater can bring it on both ends of the floor. She's an excellent shooter from deep, has the handle to penetrate defenses and get to the rim, and has shown great weight on her passes from different distances and angles. She's a tenacious defender with good reactions and is a high-level prospect to track.     Wilk is a very solid guard who can score from different levels. She's got a smooth outside shot she can hit off the catch or off the dribble. She can pick out gaps to attack and makes smart choices with the ball. Reads screens well and sets up her drives with her eyes and jabs to get an even better advantage.
