Senior Guards Loading for Final Ride

As the upcoming season approaches, a special group of senior guards across the state are gearing up for their last ride. For some, it's the final chance to secure college opportunities; for others, it's about cementing their legacy within their programs. What they all share is versatility, leadership, and impact on both ends of the floor.   Last season, this group proved they could do it all — from knocking down threes and creating off the dribble, to anchoring presses and guarding the opponent's best scorer. Now, with one more year left, they'll be asked to score in clutch moments and set the tone om the defensive end of the floor. Now at Fort White, Cox brings a blend of speed, athleticism, and determination. Cox does a good job of handling the ball and running the offense. She makes plays for herself and is also a play maker On defense, Cox applies strong ball pressure, disrupting opposing guards and sparking fast breaks. She will be a key player in the rural class because of her ability to defend high level players.    <h3 class="wp-block-heading"> </h3>    [player_tooltip player_id='514545' first='Mariah' last='Young'] enters her final season with the role of team leader. The senior guard blends outside shooting and defensive grit with the poise of someone who has been through big-game moments. Her ability to keep teammates composed and connected will be as valuable as her production on the stat sheet.     [player_tooltip player_id='678167' first='Olivia' last='Gamble'] is ready to level up in her senior year. She's already known for her timely steals and defensive energy, but it's her shooting that can separate her this season. Gamble can play either guard spot. With her ability to catch-and-shoot from the perimeter, she will be a dangerous player every time she steps on the floor. She's loading up for a season where she will control the pace, run the offense, and make her teammates better. Satterfield can also score the ball when she needs to as well. Her poise and play making will be key to her team's success this upcoming season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1117631' first='Amirahs' last='Hayes'] brings a different kind of energy to the floor. Known for her attacking mindset, she thrives when she can push tempo and put pressure on defenses. Hayes has shown she can get downhill, finish through contact, and create opportunities off penetration. Beyond scoring, her spark ignites teammates, making her the type of senior who can change momentum with one sequence — a steal, a basket, and suddenly her team is rolling. Hayes' competitive edge ensures she'll leave her mark in her final season.     [player_tooltip player_id='514689' first='Emma' last='Parker'] enters her final season determined to make it count. Known for her versatility: steady ball-handling, court awareness, and ability to hit timely shots, she's loading up for a special Senior season. Parker can really score the ball. Last season, Parker averaged nearly 13 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game from the guard position. She can stretch the floor with her jumper, create for others, and defend with discipline. As a senior, her consistency and leadership will be the center piece for her team's success.     Annabelle Shackelford will be senior loading this season and looking to help take her team to a different level. Shackelford can shoot the three and does a good of shooting it off the dribble or catch. Over the past two seasons, Shackelford has averaged 25 threes per season, which shows she can score from the perimeter. Shackelford also has the ability to attack the rim, create off the dribble, and handle the ball against pressure. She will be instrumental getting her team beyond the West Coast and possibly ending in Jacksonville, the new venue for this year's state Championship games.     Yasmine Haygood is senior loading once again and looking to be among the State's leaders in steals. She thrives in the full-court press, using her court vision, speed, athleticism, and instincts to make plays all over the floor. Haygood sets the tone on defense with relentless ball pressure and disruptive hands. Her presence causes momentum swings, making her one of the most impactful senior guards in the state.
