Standout Players of the Week for Fall Ball

This past weekend, some of the best talent in the Northwest came out to compete at the Hoopsource Fall league in Beaverton. Teams from Oregon and Washington battled it out and they sure were fun to watch. Now let's highlight some of the players who truly shined.    [player_tooltip player_id='751219' first='Lauren' last='Hood'] is an extremely talented Junior out of Camas High School. She plays for Meta Hoops AAU team and competes at a high level of play year round. This last weekend, she lead her high school team in points and carried them to victory to beat West Linn. This was a battle on the court between two tough teams. Both of them fought hard all the way to the end in a very close game. It was Lauren's aggressive determination and relentless mindset to score, that truly earned her the top feature in this week's write up. Lauren is tough to guard. because she is an amazing shooter from anywhere on the court. She's really skilled at isolation plays, where she can attack the lane and drive past the defenders to get to the rim quickly. If you give her space to shoot, she is quick to light you up from the outside. Lauren is pretty unstoppable when it comes to driving and drawing fouls. She can knock down every free-throw with ease too. Her IQ level out on the court is strong and knowledgeable. Anytime I get the opportunity to watch her play, she's always been the driving force behind her team. Scoring well over 20 points per game, she's sure to stand out anywhere she plays. Lauren is one of the hardest working players in her league. She's also by far one of the most underrated guards out of Washington.   Pay close attention to her this upcoming season, any college would be truly lucky to have her on their roster. Her work ethic and never give up mentality, will carry her far in the next level of play. She's a leader on the court and she's impacting those around her in positive ways. Job well done Lauren, keep your foot on the gas and keep on shining.     [player_tooltip player_id='832046' first='Love' last='Forde'] is a standout Junior out of Nelson High School. She plays for Cal Stars in a highly competitive league during her AAU season. Love is a strong competitor with amazing size out on the court. She's grabbed the attention of many college scouts because of her athletic abilities.   She's tough on defense and great at rebounding the ball and blocking shots. She has strong post up moves and isn't afraid to attack the rim on offense. SheIt will be fun to watch her develop over these next two years in high school. She will definitely shine amongst her teammates at Nelson and put them in the running's for the state finals.     Paityn Chesnut is a rising sophomore out of Glencoe High School. She's a talented athlete and has great size out on the court. She can play the guard position or fill the role of a forward as well. Her hard work ethic and determination to get better are what's grabbing other coaches attention out on the court. This past weekend while scouting Paityn, I had a conversation with her mom about how far she's come at getting better. It was during that moment, another coach approached quickly to recruit her to his talented AAU program. Any program would be lucky to have this rising star. Paityn is a great shooter and team leader. She's great at setting screens and creating space for her teammates to get offensive looks at the hoop. She's also a tough defender and great at rebounding the ball. Paityn is very competitive on the floor and always smiling off the court. It will be fun to watch her this upcoming season with Glencoe. Keep up the hard work and keep thriving out on the court.     Sydney Carmicle is a rising freshman out of Gladstone High School. She's a tall talented athlete that has been working hard over this offseason to get better and it's showing. Sydney is great at rebounding and blocking shots. She has an impressive wing span that can outreach opponents on both offense and defense. She's a good shooter and consistent with her free-throws.   Sydney is a good communicator too out on the floor which will grow into leadership roles in her future at Gladstone. I have had the joy of watching Sydney develop her game over the last few years and her hard work is paying off. She's a team player and always encouraging those around her. It's going to be exciting to watch her play during high school and truly step into her full potential out on the court.     Sa'reiylle Carstens-Cornwell is a rising freshman out of Benson High School. She's a multi-sport athlete competing in both basketball and volleyball. Her athletic abilities are impressive and coaches and scouts are taking notice. Sa'reiylle is a tough defender and is very fast out on the court. She's a strong attacker to the rim and has great ball handling skills. She's extremely well at seeing the floor and can pass dimes so pretty, she'll have you wondering how she managed to thread that needle so well. Sa'reiylle has tenacious grit and is highly competitive. She's a knockdown shooter from the perimeter and she's hungry to defeat any opponent standing in her way. It will be exciting to watch her this upcoming season. There's no doubt she will surely shine against her competition and help Benson make a run for state.
