It was a chess match featuring five lead changes and a showdown between two of the state's premier post defenders — Sherwood's [player_tooltip player_id='1223907' first='Tenley' last='Bozeman'], a Colorado School of Mines commit, and Century's [player_tooltip player_id='832597' first='Kiara' last='Green']. Both are having stellar senior seasons.

Bozeman, who holds the record for most blocks in Bowmen's program history, led all scorers with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.

Green, the returning all-league Defensive Player of the Year, tallied 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 blocks for the Jaguars.

The game got off to a methodical, back-and-forth start, as both teams limited the other to half-court action in the first quarter.

Senior point guard Mia Brownson set the tone early, playmaking and rebounding for Century. Brownson led the Jaguars in scoring with a game total of 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Impact freshman point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1208220' first='Zoe' last='Sanders'] opened her account in the last seconds of the first frame, displaying veteran-like poise, driving for a runner at the buzzer to give Sherwood an 11-9 edge going into the break. Sanders had 8 points, 8 assists, and 2 steals in the game.

Both teams found some rhythm in the second quarter, trading 14 points apiece in a frame that featured two lead changes.

Impact freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1264956' first='Audrey' last='Poulivaati'] connected from three-point range twice in the second period for Sherwood. Poulivaati finished the game with 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks. It was her assignment to defend Green, and she held the 6-foot-5 center to single-digit scoring.

Century's Brownson continued her dominant play and briefly leveled the score late in the second with a three-pointer out of a pick-and-roll. However, with seconds remaining in the half, it was Sanders, again, making the timely play, this time finding Bozeman in the paint with a lob assist, and putting the Bowmen ahead 25-23 at the intermission.

Sherwood appeared to take control in the third quarter, exploding for a 13-2 run to extend their lead to a game-high 11 points. But Century refused to fold, answering with a 7-0 run in the final minutes of the frame to cut the deficit to 4 points (41-37) heading into the fourth.

Nearly halfway through the final quarter, Century sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='839062' first='Amaya' last='Johnson'] knocked down a three-pointer to level the score. Johnson finished the game with 9 points and 2 assists.

That's when Bozeman stepped up. The senior leader took over on both ends, scoring 7 of the Bowmen's 11 points in the last frame, and making 3 crucial defensive stops — a steal, a block, and drawing an offensive foul against Green. Bozeman topped it off by sinking two bonus free throws to put the Bowmen up by 5 points with 30 seconds left, securing the vital road win.

With both teams in the hunt for the Pacific Conference title, every game from here on out is critical. On Friday, Sherwood goes to Liberty, and Century goes to Newberg.

The Jaguars won't have to wait long for a chance at redemption. Century is scheduled to travel to Sherwood on Friday, February 13, for the second and final regular-season meeting that could eventually decide the league champion.
