Eyes on the Prize at Lowell

Lowell finished third in the RCA last year (7-5) and will fix their eyes on the conference crown. Their talented, young core should make them very competitive over the next two seasons. Lowell showed their potential to compete against the top teams in their conference last year, fighting to a narrow 35-34 victory over Cedar Springs and defeating Greenville 23-21. Response: "The first and most important goal is to build cohesiveness on the court and a strong bond off of it. The first 5 weeks of the season will set the foundation for where we want to be in February and March. Second, the goal is to compete for an RCA championship in a talented and competitive league. In March, the objective is to play as long as possible. If we achieve our first goal, it will come down to preparation and execution in a series of single-game showdowns."   -Head Coach Travis Slanger   Question: How would you summarize your team's strengths, style, and makeup based on newcomers/graduations?   Response: "We are a young team with only one senior, but have underclassmen with varsity experience. Their strengths are understanding their roles and using their individual talents to help the team. This is a tough, gritty group that complements each other well. Girls who can shoot from the perimeter, get to the rim, and play hard for each other. We don't need to rely on a singular player to carry the load every night."   -Head Coach Travis Slanger   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Key Returners</h2>    "Aggressive getting to the rim and a viable shooter. Strong, capable of guarding bigger players and rebounds her position well."-Coach Slanger     "Best defender, hardest worker. She can get to the middle of the floor to score or create for her teammates. Reliable perimeter shooter."-Coach Slanger     "She is a versatile scorer. Shoots well from the perimeter, can put it on the floor, and play inside. She rebounds very well at her position and can handle the ball in the open floor."-Coach Slanger     "Strong finisher driving to the rim and a perimeter threat. Handles the ball well and is aggressive in transition. can play multiple positions."-Coach Slanger     "Strong inside player, not afraid of physical play. Rebounds well on both ends of the floor. and passes well for her position. Steady perimeter shooter."-Coach Slanger
