[player_tooltip player_id='832211' first='Cora' last='Sauer'] of Lake Mills High School has started this season off with a bang during Week 1 of regular season action. Sauer, a knockdown SG, recorded several positive statistical stats this past week in her first few games on Varsity action for the Winter. She lit up the scoring books with several points off of all three offensive levels, she recorded several steals/tips/deflections defensively, and she communicated well with the others around her to lead by example to push her team to victory. Sauer should be able to build on this momentum moving into the thick of the season. If they play their cards right as a team, they should have some convincing victories this Winter.

We mentioned [player_tooltip player_id='928443' first='Maya' last='Jenkins'] prior to this high school season as someone to watch so it's nice to see that Jenkins showed out to kick off her high school career. Jenkins did her thing in Game 1 of the season for Forest City. She scored at a thorough rate when she found space off the bounce or catch, she stayed aggressive while trying to get down hill consistent in both the full and half courts, she instructed those around her to the correct spots if they were lost, and she made plays on both sides of the ball whenever their system's broke down. Jenkins is a tough one to guard. She keeps it simple and takes when the defense gives her, making her even tougher to stay in-front of. All in all, there is a lot to like about Jenkins so far. She just needs to keep doing her thing.

[player_tooltip player_id='667953' first='Tessa' last='Driscoll']'s efforts have led Iowa City - City High to a 2-0 record against some impressive teams. Driscoll, the team's starting SG, has been solid in these two events. She has led her group with 19 PPG on 34% shooting, including going 44.5% from three point land. She is also leading the team in APG with 3, demonstrating that she is working on becoming a better passer to those open teammates around her. Usually when we have spoken about Driscoll in the past, we have talked about her lights out shooting ability from deep but a key for her to be successful in college is that she expands onto her game, so this is promising to see first hand. The City Hawks are looking top notch to kick things off this Winter. If they stay on track, they should surprise some teams before moving into the Playoffs in 2026.

Throughout two games so far this season and [player_tooltip player_id='883552' first='Braylyn' last='Birmingham'] is leading the state in PPG with 30.5. To pair along with that impressive number Birmingham is also currently averaging 4.5 APG, 7.5 RPG, & 4.5 SPG to help her team to an overall 2-0 record. This comes to no surprise to most of us who have been paying attention. Birmingham stepped onto the Varsity scene last Winter, she did her thing, and she took over the state as one of its best overall prospects from the guard position. Now it's all about building on that momentum moving forward. With Birmingham's overall skillset and with the competition they will compete against this regular season - it's easy to see that this is someone who should continue to put up some impressive numbers over the next six months for her Sophomore season. She has all the talent in the world so as long as she stays mentally locked in, the success should follow suit.

[player_tooltip player_id='839333' first='Avery' last='Wilson'] has been one of the more slept on prospects over the past three year's throughout the state of Iowa but she is locked in and ready to put together an unforgettable Senior season. Wilson is a 5'10 CG, that creates a lot of mismatch problems for those around her. She is a guard with better than average size and she pairs that with some solid overall skill on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she can be your leader bringing the ball down the floor as the PG but she seems to thrive more in the 2, 3, or 4 position. To start this season Wilson is holding her own per usual. She is recording 22 PPG, 5 RPG, & 5 SPG throughout their first two contests on the Winter. Some pretty impactful numbers from an outside POV.
