P2W Headliners Invitational MS All-Showcase Third Team

The Headliners Invitational Showcase ( <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/program/prepare-2-win-basketball/"> </a><a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/program/prepare-2-win-basketball/">[program_tooltip program_id='923712' first='Prepare' last='2 Win Basketball']</a>  ) provided the ideal format for prospects to showcase their best qualities directly in front of college coaches and scouts. Most middle schoolers had never participated in a showcase environment, so it was essential to give them an amazing first experience. All of the girls received a Prep Girls Hoops write-up (many of their first) and had their picture taken. They were coached by college staff throughout the showcase and have placed themselves on our Prep Girls Hoops radar ahead of their high school careers. These girls will all be better prepared for high-stakes competitions after attending the Headliners Invitational. Among the very talented prospects, Danyle and I determined that the following six prospects were deserving of Third Team honors.    Macey caught my attention immediately during check-in before the showcase. Her height and strength as an 8th grader aren't something you see every day. Macey muscled her way to the rim front and won her individual rebounding battles. She protected the paint on defense, delivered accurate passes, and demonstrated qualities that will make her a phenomenal forward prospect. Macey earned All-Showcase Third Team honors and is going to be an exciting addition to the Walled Lake Northern program in a year.     Gwen is going to be a terrific player for Portland at the high school level and she had an outstanding day at the Headliners Invitational. Her pivoting footwork and three-point shot caught my attention during 3v3. She continued to show off her pinpoint accuracy from beyond the arc during shooting drills, draining several. During games, Gwen was a dynamic slasher and skilled finisher at the rim using either hand. Her technique and effort made her an impactful defender. She earned All-Showcase Second Team honors and will be a prospect to watch.     Addison was a lethal perimeter threat and all-around difference maker at the Headliners Invitational. She was one of the most efficient three-point shooters during drills and continued to bury triples in the games. Addison attacked hard downhill to score layups in traffic and caused turnovers with her active defense. Addison earned All-Showcase Third Team honors and is a skilled prospect who will be an immediate contributor at the high school level.     Sophie has a deadly outside shot, and she made opposing teams pay for leaving her open at the Headliners Invitational. She moves to open space and keeps her feet ready to shoot off the catch. Sophie drained multiple triples during games, pushed the tempo with her dribble, delivered crisp passes to open teammates, and finished layups with good touch. She earned All-Showcase Third Team honors and is an exciting prospect in the Clarkston program.     Kensley wasn't the biggest prospect, but she was absolutely electric at the Headliners Invitational. Her smooth perimeter jumper, dribble penetration, and fast layups caught my eye during the 3v3 segment. Kensley showed off her range by burying three-pointers from the corner during shooting drills. She distributed the ball to open teammates for assists, knocked down perimeter shots, finished through contact, and created steals with her active hands on defense. Kensley's all-out effort energized her teammates and led to success on the court. She earned All-Showcase Third Team honors and is going to be a playmaker at the high school level for Portland.     Gwendolyn is a three-level scorer with versatility that makes her a promising prospect. She demonstrated excellent court vision and distributed pinpoint passes to open teammates. Gwen attacks off the dribble with a burst and has great touch around the basket. She's a determined rebounder who converts free throws with confidence at the line. Gwen earned All-Showcase Third Team honors and will be an exciting player to watch at the high school level.
