Sophie, a guard for Mystics, is one to watch heading into the MI College Tour II at Wayne State. She plays with great balance and control, showing the ability to knock down mid-range shots with confidence. Sophie also impacts the game as a facilitator, making smart decisions and keeping the offense flowing. She does a great job pushing the pace after rebounds, handling the ball well in transition and creating opportunities for her teammates. On the defensive end, her anticipation stands out, as she closes out with purpose, creates turnovers, and even makes plays like blocks from the perimeter. With her versatility and feel for the game, she has the tools to put together a strong showing this weekend.

Sophie shot the ball with balance during the drills and buried a smooth elbow jumper. She showed good anticipation on the defensive end and was an effective facilitator for Team Lynx during the games. Sophie started the fastbreak by pushing the ball using both hands after securing a defensive rebound and closed out hard on a perimeter shooter to block a shot. She snatched a steal from the help side and delivered an accurate bounce pass in stride to a teammate for an assist in transition. Sophie had another solid day at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase and will be a great addition to the Clarkston program next year.

Sophie has a deadly outside shot, and she made opposing teams pay for leaving her open at the Headliners Invitational. She moves to open space and keeps her feet ready to shoot off the catch. Sophie drained multiple triples during games, pushed the tempo with her dribble, delivered crisp passes to open teammates, and finished layups with good touch. She earned All-Showcase Third Team honors and is an exciting prospect in the Clarkston program.

Sophie is a sharpshooter from Clarkston who can’t get enough basketball, and I was excited to watch her again at the Headliners Invitational. Her perimeter presence gave Team Liberty a spark during the games, and she sprinted up the court in transition to score layups. Sophie found her hot spot in the corner and drilled a pair of smooth threes off the catch. She handled the ball with poise and was a Top Performer at the showcase.

Sophie will be making her way to the Headliners Invitational this weekend, and I was excited to see her play for Clarkston Gold on Thursday. She caught the ball with excellent balance and created turnovers with her active hands on defense. One of Sophie’s best plays was when she anticipated a pass to grab a steal, drove hard to the rim, and finished with a strong layup through contact. Sophie swished her free throw at the line to complete the three-point play. She buried a pull-up jumper in transition, deflected multiple inbounds passes, handled the ball confidently with both hands, and dished out passes on a rope to open teammates for assists. She poured in six points for Clarkston Gold in the win and will be very productive at the high school level.
