2025 Anthony Wayne Northwest Christmas Showdown Standouts -Part 1

Prep Girls Hoops was honored to attend and cover Day 2 of the Northwest Christmas Showdown at Anthony Wayne High School. Day 2 of the event featured five marquee matchups including top programs from across Northwest, Northeast, and Central Ohio in the showcase. Here are our first list of standout players from the second day of the event!!    Skiver is flat out elite with the ball in her hands! She can get to her spots and create her own shot with ease! Skiver attacks the rim with a purpose looking to score at every chance she gets. She also crashes the offensive glass well looking for second chance opportunities for her team! Skiver uses her length and height at 5'11" to be a pest defensively as an elite pressure defender. She also has an elite three-point jump shot with her pure shooting form! Skiver runs the floor very well in transition looking to convert at the rim. Nothing can stop her when she gets into an offensive rhythm!     VanSlooten has great size and fluidity for a forward! She is a very capable shot creator and shooter with her pure stroke. The senior is a flat out leader on both ends of the floor! VanSlooten is very good at facilitating the ball for her position getting the ball to open teammates. She plays the game with elite level of aggression and intensity that you can't teach! The chemistry that VanSlooten and Skiver have on the floor can't be overstated! They both play off each others games very well setting each other up for great looks!     Byrne is an elite senior point guard who makes all the right plays for her team! She has a nice three-point shot and is capable of knocking down difficult shots with her pure stroke. Byrne is also a stellar facilitator with the ball getting her teammates the ball in rhythm. She is a great rebounder for a point guard and looks to push in transition at every opportunity she gets! Byrne is a strong paint finisher off the dribble being able to score on balance around the basket through contact.     Gray has outstanding length and size for a shooting guard and uses it well finishing shots in and around the rim. She displayed she also has an elite shooting stroke making a three-pointer right off an inbound play! With her pure stroke and height, she is a matchup nightmare! Gray uses her size and footwork to also make difficult shots near the basket through contact. No one can stop her in transition when she runs the floor! Gray is elite at creating initial post position in the halfcourt and in transition using her size to win matchups. No doubt she is a difference maker as a pressure defender in both the paint and on the perimeter! Gray and Byrne have outstanding chemistry on the offensive end displaying it throughout the whole game!     Hall is a paint beast on the offensive end! She scores through contact near the basket converting and-ones in transition when she attacks the hoop. Hall is a great secondary scorer next to her teammate [player_tooltip player_id='861142' first='Elly' last='Evarts'] as they both play off each other very well! Hall is a elite at facilitating the ball in transition as well creating opportunities for herself and teammates.     Evarts is a tear on the offensive end! She led her team in scoring in the win and couldn't be stopped on both ends of the floor. Her 5'8" frame as a shooting guard makes her a difficult matchup on the perimeter for opponents to guard and close out on. Evarts is a very capable ball handler and complete sniper from deep! She can makes three-pointers from all spots on the floor with her elite balance and shooting touch! Evarts is also a stellar facilitator with the ball seeing the whole floor well and getting the ball to her teammates with perfect timing.     Dawson has a very mature game for a sophomore! She has a very pure stroke from deep as she hit a three-pointer in the game! Dawson is a very aggressive pressure defender showing high activity in the gaps. Being only a sophomore, she has a very high ceiling with her already natural feel for the game and shooting stroke. Dawson plays hard on both ends of the floor with a very high motor!     Henderson is a multi-faceted senior forward would can score in multiple ways on the offensive end! She demonstrated she is a capable ball handler attacking the middle of the floor looking for opportunities to score at the basket. Henderson is also a pressure defender in the low post, using her strong frame and feet to deny easy baskets from her matchups. She battles hard on the glass on both ends of the floor, offensively aggressively looking for putbacks. Henderson's high energy effects winning in multiple ways!
