The All About the Girls Holiday Hoops is a solid, well organized tournament giving a lot of teams the opportunity to showcase during the holiday period. The tournament pays homage to key figures in DMV basketball with different divisions honoring their names. Some notable names are the late James Nichols who had a huge impact on how the DMV club scene is ran these days and Saladin Reese who was the king of youth development in the DMV grassroots basketball. The division that holds dear to me is the Terrence Butler Jr division named after my son a division one athlete that I lost two years ago to suicide and is the reason I started covering basketball in the first place. After two days of competitive basketball here are some of the most dynamic players that stepped on the court.

London had one of the days most incredible performances. She got stronger as the game went on and willed her team to an overtime victory against Roland Park while scoring 40 points in the process. She was unstoppable getting to the basket and got to the rim navigating the defense on her drives and in transition. She also knocked down a couple of three pointers for good measure.

Brooklyn scored the first five points of the game against Poly enroute to a 19 point performance. She shot the three well and played tremendous defense. She made crisp passes from the point guard spot and finished well off the ball. She moved quickly up the court in transition seemingly always open and hustled back to break up plays on defense.

Naomi show some flash in her game making plays in a variety of ways. She shot both the three and the midrange shot very well and repeatedly go to the basket for the finish. She handled the ball well and even threw in a couple of trick dribbles to get by defenders. She looks ready to compete at the next level.

Mira showed a lot of upside in her game. She has good size and played under control. She had range from the three and was able to finish with contact. Her stock has definitely risen after her performance in the tournament and I would encourage college coaches that haven't seen her to take a look.

At first it seemed like McKenzie was disengaged from the game but when she got the ball in her hand things changed. She started to take over and scored eight straight points which included and three pointer and finish with contact for an and one and a steal and finish transition basket. Whatever set off the spark as she blocked a shot turning that into offence. She scored 16 points all in the second half.
