Underclassmen To Keep an Eye On from The Kreul

Now in its 36th year, The Kreul is working to become a national-stage event on the girls side by bringing teams from across the country to Coral Springs, Florida. The girls side has shown noticeable growth and depth in recent years. That expanding platform made for easy opportunities to see a lot of talent under one roof this weekend, especially among the underclassmen where several young players didn't just show potential but held their own against older, high-level competition. From physical tools that already translate to skill, feel, and poise beyond their years. These underclassmen made themselves worth tracking long-term:    Nina stood out with her strong frame and excellent size, making her a force on both ends of the floor. She protects the rim with blocks on the interior and attacks the basket as a relentless finisher. Offensively, she shows a beautiful midrange game with soft touch and isn't afraid to play physical and establish position inside. With her incredible feel for the game, she was one of the top overall players at The Kreul, regardless of class.     Lyric impressed most with her anticipation on the defensive end by consistently jumping passing lanes and turning steals into easy offense. She converted a couple of steals into coast to coast finishes which showed confidence with the ball in space. Offensively, she played within herself on a team loaded with strong upperclassmen, played unselfish, and made the right reads while still finding ways to impact the game. Her hustle plays stood out, and she showed she can knock down the open shot at every level when opportunities were there.     Cardin brings solid length and a nice frame for her age and showed the ability to make plays in the flow of the game. She converted a nice and-1 and displayed good elevation on her jumper. On offense, she made smart/crisp passes and stayed composed by playing within herself on a team with tough guard-play.     Aaliyah used her length and frame to make an impact on both ends of the floor. She shot the three with confidence and attacked downhill effectively by showing a mix of smooth finishes and touch around the rim. Her team has plenty of height, and she handled tough guard play well and demonstrated the ability to compete and contribute in multiple areas of the game with great feel.     Jada is in a great situation at Grandview where strong coaching and daily competition will held accelerate her development. She plays real minutes alongside upperclassmen who are on track to play Division I basketball and goes against that same level of talent in practice which has clearly raised her comfort level in game settings. She understands her role and impacts winning without forcing the action, brings good size and frame for her class, and at The Kreul showed she can knock down the outside shot against tough competition.     Tahri combined a strong frame with a versatile offensive game that kept defenders guessing. She shot very efficiently from three while adding a reliable floater, baseline jumper, and finishing ability around the rim with either hand. Always active, her motor and effort level make her a constant presence on both ends of the floor that has allowed her team to grab some big wins this week.     Cami excels at playing her role and relies on strong fundamentals rather than forcing plays. She showcased that skill set with a beautiful hesitation dribble into a baseline drive and finished it with a bounce pass for an assist. She also displayed a nice shot fake followed by a spin move and bucket which highlighted her poise and craftiness on offense. Her vision and pace within the flow of the game allow her to log significant minutes as an underclassmen.     Harleigh stood out with her length and versatility and used her size to impact the game on both ends of the floor. She showed the ability to stretch the floor by knocking down the three while also scoring effectively in the paint and from the midrange. Defensively, her activity level jumped off the page as she protected the rim with a block in the paint and even swatted a three point attempt. Her energy and intensity were consistent throughout the event and helped set the tone when she was on the floor.
