Day 1 Standouts at the Sweet Pea

The freshman is an anchor in the middle for the Broncos. Impresses with her timing and feel as a shot blocker. Is similar with the way she rebounds. Even led Mustang with 17 points, with a perfect 6 of 6 free throw shooting. Scores on rolls to the rim, putbacks and good touch. Has moments as a passer in the halfcourt, but needs to continue to improve her vision and processing. As she did miss some open teammates. Still the strides she's making this season are great indicators of her bright future. The other Lady Bronco in double figures with 11 points. Good connector energy on offense, as she often makes the right pass in the halfcourt and unselfish play in transition. As always, was tough and disruptive on defense. Have seen development in all phases of her offensive game this season. Clearly is becoming a "jack of all trades" player, thriving in her bigger role with Mustang. Another day at the office for the super sophomore. Closed out the first quarter with five quick points. The 10 foot baseline jumper was run of the mill for the skilled scorer. But shortly after she forced a steal, raced the other way and drained a three as the horn sounded. Flat out one of the best shooters and scorers in the state. Is starting to play quicker and tougher on defense as well. Tends to make one "wow" athletic steal or block a game. 2028 is loaded in Oklahoma and Woods is one of the standard bearers. Douglass has an established big three to lean on, but to make a State Title run it takes all hands on deck. Wednesday was an example of the developing talent on the Trojettes roster. Smith, Combs and Mason all had their moments as contributing scorers. With the sophomore in particular shooting it well from distance. She could be a shooter who swings games come February and March. Up and down game for Moore in a tough battle against one of the top teams in the state. Even on a court filled with outstanding athletes, the long and athletic hybrid forward stood out with her movement at her height. Had some good finishes at the rim. Running the floor hard in transition and establishing position on the block. But also left some points on the board with misses around the basket. Clean that up and she can turn good games into great games for the Pioneers. And better set herself up for next level success. Recalled watching the young lady at the Freshman Showcase back in September. She was a bright spot in a tough game for 5A Mac vs 6A Mustang. Got it going a bit from three and off the bounce in the second half. While also making some scrappy plays on the defensive end. Seemed to fit well into her role by not trying to do too much today, but still found spots to contribute. Looking forward to continue to monitor Rapalo's progress.
