A good portion of the South Carolina high school girls basketball schedule has been adversely affected by the recent wintry weather that made its way through the Palmetto State this past weekend.

While weather is front and center on the minds of many as January transitions to February, the first month of the calendar year 2026 has been filled with great basketball. And among the stellar hoops that have been played has been several notables throughout the state reaching career milestones.

Without further ado, we recognize those that indeed reach said achievements in their careers beginning with an emphasis on 1,000-point scorers.

We begin with a milestone that actually was reached not in January, but in mid-December. Turner is in the final season of her high school career with 3A Woodruff. On Dec. 19, Woodruff reached the 1,000-point plateau in a matchup that pitted her Wolverines against the Eagles of 2A Chesnee. The Wolverines picked up the 45-21 victory at the Eagles' nest. As of this writing, the Wolverines are currently tied for second place (with Broome) in Region 3-AAA. Turner, who first played at the varsity level as a seventh grader, has averaged 13 points, 6.4 steals, 5.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists this season. She recently landed an offer from Columbia International – where her former Woodruff teammate Sadie Burnette is currently playing at in the collegiate ranks.

History was also in the cards for Mayers on Jan. 15. Defending SCISA 2A champion Cross Schools matched up against the Hurricanes of Coastal HomeSchool. The Stingrays achieved the 40-21 victory and Mayers reached the 1,000-point plateau for her career. Mayers, in her senior season at Cross Schools, has averaged 22.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.6 steals in 19 contests. She already has two state championships on her career resume and is in search of a third as her high school career nears its conclusion. The Stingrays will be a favorite to once again win it all in SCISA 2A as they have only lost twice against in-state opponents (John Paul II, Dorchester Academy) this season.

Speaking of 2A schools, Saluda is always a team to watch out for in the Palmetto State's public realm of that classification. In the Tigers' first matchup of the calendar year, the sophomore guard reached 1,000 points in a matchup against another premier team from the 2A ranks in Clinton. Springs was honored for her career milestone a few days later when Saluda matched up against 3A Swansea – a game that saw Springs lead her Tigers to a 52-26 victory over Swansea's Tigers. Springs tallied 19 points in the victory. Coach Jeanette Wilder's Saluda assembling currently is 2-0 against foes in Region 2-AA – ahead of three teams (Ninety Six, Batesburg-Leesville, Strom Thurmond) that are all 2-1.

Shifting our focus to one of the teams to beat in the 4A ranks, the addition of Ross has paid dividends for Wilson. On Jan. 19, the Tigers were locked in a tough region contest on the road at Crestwood. Wilson prevailed over the Knights by a final score of 42-36 and Ross achieved her significant milestone by reaching 1,000 points – also as a sophomore. Ross has only played in nine games this season, but she has made the most of when she has been on the court for Wilson. In those nine contests, Ross has averaged 12.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 steals per matchup.

Another star player from the Tigers that crossed the 1,000-point threshold was Miller, in her swan song season sporting Wilson's purple and gold hues. Miller is one of four team co-captains for coach Ki'Ari Cain's Tigers. Wilson hosted region rival Lower Richland on Jan. 12. The Diamond Hornets got the narrow 44-43 victory over the Tigers but Miller reached her career milestone. She was honored at Wilson's following home game which was two days later against South Florence. As of this writing, Miller has played in all 17 of Wilson's games this season, averaging 13.6 points, four rebounds and 3.5 steals a contest. The Tigers were ranked ninth in the most recent 4A coaches' poll.
