Scoring Leaders of the Gainesville Area

The Gainesville area is packed with high-level scoring talent, featuring players who consistently light up the scoreboard and impact winning. From elite shooters to versatile guards and physical finishers, these top scorers are leading their teams to strong seasons while gaining attention at the state and national levels. As the season moves toward the postseason, this group is must-watch.    [player_tooltip player_id='656075' first='Ashlyn' last='Young'] has consistently been a top scorer and player in the Gainesville area since her freshman year, and there has been no drop-off in her senior campaign. Young is a consistent point guard you can always depend on; she does much more than score while still averaging 14 PPG this season. Her season high is 27 points against Newberry, where she was on fire, going 12-for-14 from the field.   Williston is currently sitting at 11–2 on the season and ranked 28th in the state. They are looking to make a deep Rural playoff run, and this senior has a chip on her shoulder as she looks to avenge their regional finals loss to the eventual Rural state champions, Wildwood.     [player_tooltip player_id='514673' first='Brandy' last='Whitfield'] (Cover Photo) is averaging 29.7 PPG this season, and she is doing it mostly from behind the three-point line, having made 60 threes this year, which ranks her #93 nationally. Brandy has recorded four 30-point games and two 40-point games, with a season high of 43 points against The Rock, where she battled another top scorer in the Gainesville area and knocked down seven threes.   Brandy's success has led her team to a 15–1 record and a #39 state ranking per MaxPreps. She is looking to make her senior season her best yet as her team aims to make a deep 3A state playoff run.     [player_tooltip player_id='1235117' first='Alessia' last='Chaves-Torres'], a sophomore guard, has been on a tear this year, averaging 15.6 PPG with 11 games of 15 or more points and a season high of 24 against Eastside. Torres has increased her freshman output of 14.5 PPG, and before the season started, we projected her to raise her stock—and she has done exactly that so far this high school season. She continues to get better the more she plays, and I can't wait to see what she does this travel season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1319755' first='Nyasia' last='Bivins'] is averaging 25 PPG this season, with 10 games of 20+ points, four 30-point games, and a season-high 35-point performance. Her physical ability to fight for rebounds and generate steals consistently contributes to her scoring output.   This junior is firmly on the Prep Girls Hoops must-watch list for the remainder of the season and heading into the travel ball season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1151383' first='Ruby' last='Patterson'] comes as no surprise as one of the leading scorers in the Gainesville area. Her ability to score has been on the Prep Girls Hoops radar for the past year, and as a freshman, she is currently averaging 20.5 PPG, shooting 47%from the field and 41% from the three-point line.   In her best game of the season so far, she scored 41 points against Newberry, going 11-for-13 from beyond the arc against another top scorer in the Gainesville area and even that performance came as no surprise. If anyone is capable of a game like that, it's Ruby. This is only the beginning, and I foresee a couple of 50-point games before her high school career is over.     [player_tooltip player_id='1667615' first='Sarah' last='Deane'] of Saint Francis Catholic Academy is playing varsity as a freshman and is averaging 16.4 PPG, with multiple games scoring over 10 points. Her season high came against Union County, where she scored 26 points, going 10-for-17 from the field.   Sarah uses her athleticism and speed to score in space and quickly turn offense into defense, highlighted by her explosive first step. Although she was not originally on our radar, she has certainly garnered our attention, and we will be following her game throughout the rest of her career.
