Jacobi was very efficient going 6/9 from the field but she only registered 13 points and 12 rebounds, which is a win from a defensive perspective compared to what Jacobi has been doing all Winter long. This low scoring number helped Kee hold off Springville as a whole, leading to an upset victory. This was the only high school with a true upset within the 1A Class moving into the State Tournament. Overall they put a great plan together as a team, executed it, and now they will get to play at the Casey's Center next week. As an individual Winters isn't their leading scorer or rebounded but she consistently has shown up every game she has competed in this season. She leaves all effort out on the line and that's something you have to respect. Kee will have another challenge in Round 1 to compete against the #1 rated team in the Class but if they put together another detail oriented scouting plan, who knows what might happen. We have seen crazier things.

Many might not know about [player_tooltip player_id='947972' first='Quinn' last='Osgood'] because she just transferred in from Minnesota this season for her Junior year but you should get to know her because she has D2-level talent from what we have seen so far and she is going to be back against next season as a Senior. Osgood is making her mark at Saint Ansger during her first season on roster as they just made the 1A State Tournament with their victory of 52-49 on Wednesday evening. In this showing, Osgood led her team with 17 points and 4 assists. Offensively, she received most of this action as a 3 point shooter on the outside. Out of her 19 attempts on the game, 17 of them were from behind the arc. She also did a good job of limiting her turnovers to 1 throughout while dishing out multiple assists. All in all, it was a solid showing from this group as a whole. Now we will have to see if they can carry them momentum even more as we move into DSM next week.

Lynnville-Sully has the best record in the start at 24-0 moving into State Week and they are looking to keep that perfect record in tact throughout the rest of their season. One of the best overall prospects on the floor in their last game was their SF - Isabelle Vos. Vos didn't lead the group in scoring but she held her own on both sides of the court. She ended the contest with 14 points (5/14), 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. That is a well-rounded and healthy stat line by the Sophomore. In this one she demonstrated that she knows how to control in-between the blocks with her length and natural instincts. Not to mention, she was talking at a high rate, directing traffic, and defending the hoop like her life depended on it defensively. That is an ability that we will have to see more of over the next few days if this group wants to bring home a 1A State Title. They haven't lost yet this Winter but that's why they will have a target on their back moving forward.

St. Albert will have another solid shot to bring home another State Title over the next week if they just worry about going 1-0 every game. They dominated Coon Rapids-Bayard by 20 points on Wednesday, showing everyone watching that they mean business. The best overall player for the Saintes in this showing was their SF - [player_tooltip player_id='901710' first='Avah' last='Underwood']. Underwood ended with 24 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 blocks, and 3 steals. If you know Underwood's game, it's mainly by the bucket. She can step out to do other things but with this team, they need her to navigate the middle like a pro. She did that last season, she had some guard help back her up, and because of that they won the 1A Title. If they want to repeat that winning formula, their main producers are going to have to play lights-out. Something that is definitely do-able looking at their path ahead.

Exira-EHK beat GTRA earlier this week because of their efficient ability on the offensive end. When you look at the numbers, GTRA went 4/33 from behind the arc. Exira on the other hand went 3/12. GTRA went 8/14 from the charity stripe while Exira went 14/26. As you can tell just by these stat lines, Exira was getting most of their action in the middle of the floor on offense. They fed their Post and it was down-hill from there. The main contributor for the Spartans, who has been their top dawg all Winter long, was [player_tooltip player_id='832210' first='Taryn' last='Petersen']. She registered a decent stat line to lead her team but her presence was the most important factor in my eyes. The opposing team having to use time, spacing, and energy on her is the reason that they dominated things from start to finish. Petersen has been someone with huge numbers for years now so it's awesome to see that she has led her team to a 24-1 record as we move into 2025-2026 High School State Week.
